You'd never think this place is as great as it is, it's very humble but this is some of the best food I've had since moving to Austin. The fried chicken is crisp but not oily, and they have some home-meal-style sides. The Tex Mex side of the menu is a sleeper hit - try the mole sauce with the chicken enchiladas, it's an incredible experience of sweet and savory and spiced-not-spicy. The fish tacos are also solid.
I've visited this location many times in the past 10yrs. Today was the first in a while since I no longer work next door. The food and atmosphere have always been consistent and worth it. Lucys is a good representation of Elgin and what great food should be.Wheelchair accessibility: Stairs to get to the sidewalk but multiple ramps to get you to the door safely.
