“Google isn't allowing me to upload photos, but I'll check back in to try again.
I debated whether or not to post this review because I absolutely want to gatekeep Yozora. However, I also want Chef Emanuel and his team to succeed, so whatever. Just as long as you leave me a table, I’ll let you in on the secret.
The interior is mid-century modern with a chill vibe. The clean lines and no-frills interior didn’t feel sparse but instead gave me Mad Men vibes. The vinyl set up to the left of our table screamed 70s basement party in all the right ways. The music was kept at an acceptable level—not too loud that it kept us from hearing our conversation but loud enough to tempt me into shaking my hips when a slammin’ Bossa Nova came on.
**Be advised: we ordered damn near everything on the menu, and our bill reflected as much. Don’t think too hard; just donate some plasma next month.**
It’s not hard to go a little menu crazy with the izakaya-inspired menu.
Lucky Chicken is a red ale IPA from Kyoto, Japan. I had the yuzu sake high ball, which was crisp and refreshing.
The Asian pear cucumber salad was addicting. The floral pear and the mildly sweet cucumber cleansed the palate in anticipation of the meal. The Shiro Wrap (which I assume is named for Yozora’s predecessor) is a spicy avocado and panko-fried soft-shell crab filling surrounded by a soy wrap, masago, and chives. It’s one of those dishes you think of occasionally and wonder if it misses you as much as you miss it.
The Charcoal Grilled Chasu had a unique combination of fatty braised pork belly scented with charcoal that highlighted the salty creaminess of Reggiano cheese. The scallion kimchi that accompanied it mixed spicy with the herbaceous punch of the scallion tops.
The Garlic Edamame is like a toxic relationship: it hurts you but is so addictive and lovely that you can’t help but keep coming back to it. I spent the rest of the meal slurping soybeans from their pods while I conquered the rest of our meal. These have moderate spiciness, so if you’re sensitive to heat, I would skip them.
Hot Line Crispy Gyoza is a fried pork dumpling tossed in 911 sauce (it was more urgent care to us) and topped with parm-Reggiano cheese. These weren’t our favorite, but we’d demolish them after a night of drinking.
We moved on to the Yakitori section of the menu and enjoyed the Negima (chicken thigh and Japanese leek) and Waygu. Both were grilled exceptionally and remained juicy and tender.
We chugged on over to the “Crudo and Battera” section and ordered the Toro Tartare (I wished the lotus chip was thicker to accommodate the weight of the rich tartare), the Pepper Fin (I could drink the citrus soy/chili oil situation), and the Crispy Toro (we loved the juxtaposition of the creamy, fatty toro and the hidden crispy rice).
You might think we were ready to tap out by now… and we were, but we had ordered the Waygu Teriyaki, and we’re no quitters. The Wagyu was cooked perfectly, a gorgeous medium-rare, and the soy beurre blanc sat in was nothing short of seductive.
Our final push was the Yuzu Japanese Citrus Pie. I don’t know if they have an in-house pastry chef, but whoever created this dessert knows what the hell they’re doing. The yuzu offered the right amount of pucker factor, and the crisp, buttery crust added just enough sweetness to balance it.
Our server (I want to say his name was Ray or Roy) was exceptional in his attentiveness, engagement, and hospitality.
I wholeheartedly recommend Yozora as I think it should be on everyone’s list of must-eat places in the San Antonio area.”

“Although they have had some staffing issues in recent months, the ones who show up always do such a great job under pressure. Tonight Justin was the only waitstaff, which he explained when we walked in. He ran his feet off taking care of everyone and did a great job. The cook(s?) also did a great job. We love the relaxed diner atmosphere and have always gotten good food.”

“Visited multiple times as the dumplings, bad, noodles are all made in house and fresh. Honestly feel like this is the best noodles and dumpling house States side, and coming from the Tri-state area it's a diamond in the rough for sure. Staff is always pleasant and shall offer some tid bits if you wish to enhance flavor. Shall always order extra to bring home! Keep up the Great work!”

“Our food was exceptional at the Fair Oaks location. Service lacked a wee bit but the food was dynamite and the portions were overwhelming. If you’ve had HEB sushi (it’s mediocre by comparison) you’ll be astounded by this! We will be back. The seaweed and squid salad was probably my favorite and I wanted more!”

“All I have to say is that I love summer moon in Leon springs. I used to live by the pearl and used to go to the one off st Mary’s and was excited to find out that there was a summer moon in Leon springs where I moved. I’ve been going to this location for the last 2 years. The entire staff is incredible but I have to give a shout out to Harli. She’s the best. Always has a smile. Always know your name. It’s extremely rare that the drinks are inconsistent but when the one time it did happen they were happy to replace it at no cost. This is best coffee house ever”

“I had such a wonderful experience here today! As a very early postpartum mom running on little sleep, I accidentally placed my order at the wrong Willie’s location. When I finally made it to the right one and explained my mistake, the Hwy 151 team kindly remade my food so I wouldn’t have to eat something that had been sitting for a while — all without me even asking. This small act of kindness meant so much. I told my baby that day that when you can, offer people as much grace as possible and be kind — because you never know what someone might be going through. Thank you, Willie’s, for not only serving delicious food, but also for showing compassion and humanity. You made my day! 💛”

“My wife and I went today for lunch, she had the Chicken fried chicken and I had a burger with mushrooms and sautéed onions. Also a cactus blossom for appetizer. By far some of the best food we have had in a while. Complements to the chef and team. Devon was our waiter and he was great! We will be asking for him for now on when we go back. Also if you haven’t tried the Raspberry tea, you’re missing out lol. Just wanted to share cause great service is hard to find these days and again great job!”

“I had an incredible meal at Compadres Hill Country Cocina in Boerne! The fideo was pure comfort in a bowl—rich, savory, and perfectly seasoned, with noodles cooked just right in a warm, flavorful broth that felt like Grandma’s house. The fajita taco was equally outstanding, packed with tender, smoky fajita meat that had that signature Hill Country BBQ flair, wrapped in a fresh tortilla. Every bite was bursting with bold, authentic Tex-Mex flavors.”

“The food was amazing. I didn't get to find out what the name of the girl who helped us out was while we were there, but she did amazing. My dad, my brother, and I went, and she was extremely nice. For the purpose of someone qorking there reading this, she was 5'2-5'4 maybe and had short blonde hair. She made me feel at ease for someone with social anxiety. Very good employment. The food was good too. I got a coffee milk tea, and it tasted amazing. My dad liked his strawberry milk tea, and my brother, a picky eater, liked the coconut milk tea. I would go back. The atmosphere was calm and it wasn't full besides us.”

“Food was good. Server was terrible, when asked questions about menu and when she brought wrong order. Spoke with server about poor service and requested company contact, She declined and informed me that it wouldn’t do any good, because she was quitting. I frequently travel to the area and will have to find another Italian restaurant with employees wanting to work there and serve.”
