Chicken Express is a clean and well-maintained restaurant with attentive and polite staff. The chicken is fresh, perfectly cooked with a nice crunchy coating, and the meat is tender and moist. The hush puppies are excellent, and the chicken tenders and coleslaw were good, though the instant mashed potatoes received some complaints. The fried okra was overcooked, and the macaroni & cheese was mushy, but the dinner roll was hot and fresh. The service is typical with ordering at the counter, and the staff is friendly. However, there have been some concerns about the cleanliness of the dining area and the quality of some items when not freshly prepared. The restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere and is worth a visit for delicious chicken, despite mixed feedback on the sides. It is conveniently located right off of Highway 16, making it a good option for travelers.
