Best Valentines dinner in years. Our waiter Dre was exceptional. Attentive and friendly throughout. The Western Australian Lobster cooked perfectly. My wife's Scallops the same. Our sides the Lobster Mac and Cheese as well as the cream corn were extraordinary. For dessert our Key Lime Pie and coffee were delicious. The availability of non-alcoholic beer also made the dinner experience better. A must for dates and special occasions.

Came for Valentine's Day 2026, we were seated 45 minutes after our reservation time. Despite the many signs and notifications online about a strict dress code, it was obvious that no such code was being enforced whatsoever. (Which fine, dress codes are weird anyways)

We paid for the surf and turf fixed price menu. They were out of lobster bisque, so we opted for clam chowder (the chowder is the only thing we enjoyed at this restaurant at all).

We assumed, incorrectly, that the server would inform us of any menu items that were unavailable upfront... alas, they were also out of the most desirable steak topping choice, as well as multiple sides. I ordered a medium rare steak with the spicy crabcake and my wife ordered a medium rare steak with miso ginger butter, the side we ordered was truffle french fries.

The lobster sushi roll was the second course. Hands down, this was the most bland and disappointing sushi roll I've ever had the displeasure of consuming. There was simply no flavor, just a lot of white rice to make it feel substantial (it was not).

My steak was cold to the touch on arrival, as was the crabcake, was severly undercooked, didn't even meet the standard for a rare steak. My wife's steak was so well-done that it resembled a brick of charcoal yet was so cold that the overly massive mountain of butter on top never began to melt. Fries were noticeably missing the entire time we attempted to eat the steak.

The server came to take our desert order, only necessary because they ran out of the fixed price item (Baked Alaska) and brought our fries at this time. We had been at the restaurant for near two hours at this point and asked for the fries to go as well as the desert. Server came back 10 minutes later with the fries in a box, then another 10 minutes with the desert plated. We reminded her we need it to go, so she boxed it up and had it to us in another 10 minutes.

The atmosphere was horrendous. Servers gathered at the end of the bar closest to the tables loudly talking about the many errors each of them made with their tables. Guests on either side of us were audibly upset and verbally confirmed minimal tips as a result of their frustration.

I don't blame my server, clearly the managment made a decision for the holiday to cast as wide a net as possible to drive profits with the assumption that people coming for the holiday aren't regulars and likely won't return to the restaurant again anyways... so why bother properly stocking up or cooking food properly?

We were both excited to go here for the first time for a nice dinner, but instead had to wait a long time for our third choices of menu items that were not cooked properly, didn't taste good, and didn't arrive to our table in a timely manner.

I would never recommend eating here in person as a result of this experience. (Maybe a bowl of chowder to go)

Great seafood restaurant located in a hotel near shopping and activities. Parking can be tricky so leave yourself time or use the valet service. The restaurant offers a full bar with a great wine list. The food was fresh and tasty. We shared a redfish entree over grits and topped with crawfish, amazing! The service was great and the atmosphere was busy but not noisy.

The lobster bisque was very good the rest of the food was satisfactory. This was our first trip Oceanaire in Dallas. It did not compare to the Orlando location. Our server was friendly, polite and helpful as was the rest of the staff. The location is nearing remodel age and it shows.

The staff was very attentive to our needs. They decorated the restaurant beautifully for the occasion. And, the food was exquisite. The shrimp & grits was surprisingly flavorful & very good.

My husband and I made reservations at Oceanaire a month in advance as part of our Valentine’s Day weekend while staying at the Westin. We were looking forward to a relaxed, low-key evening where we could park once and enjoy a beautiful dinner without having to leave the area.

We arrived dressed up for our 8:15 p.m. reservation and still waited about 30 minutes to be seated. While that was disappointing, we appreciated the complimentary champagne while we waited. The restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeous — the lighting and ambiance are perfect for a romantic evening. The hostess was warm, friendly, and engaging, which made for a lovely start to the night.

Unfortunately, the experience shifted once we were seated.

This was our first time dining here, so we had a few questions about the menu. I asked our waiter to explain one item twice because I didn’t fully understand it the first time. His demeanor made me feel as though I was inconveniencing him, so I chose not to press further.

We ordered the surf and turf with lobster mac and cheese. When our meals arrived (delivered by someone else), the lobster mac and cheese and steak knives were missing. When our waiter returned, we informed him. He told us he had forgotten to mention that they were out of the lobster mac and cheese — information he knew at the time we ordered. He never came back to inform us or offer an alternative side.

When we asked what sides were available, he said he wasn’t sure but would bring a menu. Instead, he brought out mashed potatoes without explanation. We were confused, as we were expecting a menu and steak knives. We even had to ask again for the knives.

When we asked him how he would feel if this were his dining experience, he admitted he would be upset and acknowledged that the service was poor. While he did offer to comp the side, the overall experience had already been disappointing.

It felt as though, because our reservation was later in the evening, the wait staff may have been exhausted. However, as guests who reserved well in advance, we expect the same level of attentive service as those dining earlier in the evening. While it may have been a long shift for the staff, it was our special evening out — and we should have received the best version of the service, regardless of the time.

We truly wanted to love this experience, but unfortunately, it fell short of expectations.

Unfortunately, this was a disappointment. We haven’t been here in years and it is nothing like it was the last time we were here. Poor service, filthy restrooms, and mediocre food.

I have a food allergy which I informed the server about, asking for a specific dish to be made without an ingredient I’m allergic to. She either ignored it or the kitchen did. In either case, it could have been a very bad outcome.

For a place that positions itself as “fine dining” they missed the mark.

We attended for my mother’s birthday dinner and the experience is best defined as a tale of two halves. Our original waiter was horrible… an hour into service without entrees placed, drinks constantly empty and zero attention. However, after a comment made to the GM, our night was turned around by Cody, Rachel, and Miguel. These three are phenomenal and saved a terrible experience from becoming worse. Overall the first half of the night was 0/5 and the second half was 5/5 after improved service and multiple comps. Keep it up Cody, Rachel, and Miguel - from my experience you are the backbones of the restaurant!

This was my second and last time at The Oceanaire. The calamari was very overcooked. I ordered a New York strip and it was way too fatty and more like a ribeye, with tons of tendons; It wasn't a good cut for the price. My date had a broiled seafood platter, which was also all overcooked and rubbery. On top of the disappointing meal, you have to pay valet $15.00, before tip. The overall experience was poor, overpriced, and I would not recommend it, especially compared to other steak and seafood places in the North Dallas area.

The Oceanaire has never disappointed us, but our recent visit was particularly excellent. Our server, Susie knew the menu perfectly and made some elegant suggestions for those of us with special diets. The food was delicious, fresh, and abundant. Dessert was wonderful, and we will certainly come back for such a fine fine-dining experience.
