“We live in Hollywood Park and Purple Garlic is right in our neighborhood. This is such a wonderful restaurant! The staff is so friendly and fun! It’s literally almost like Cheers “where everyone knows your name” even if you haven’t been there in a while! The food is excellent, always served fresh, extremely delicious and hot out of the oven. They have a nice wine list, but you can also bring your own vino. We’ve always had great dining experiences at Purple Garlic and that’s why it’s been so popular for all these years!“

“First went there earlier this year, impressed us the minute we walked in the door, employees greet you upon entering with a truly warm, illuminating smile. When we were seated, we wanted to watch a certain game and the manager, Laura really went out of her way, bent over backwards to ensure they found the game(s) we wanted to watch, then ensured that the games would stay on ! The waitress who waited on us ( can't remember her name ) was exactly like the manager, helpful, courteous and quick with her service, thus resulting in making this our favorite location for watching sports with the drinks and menu items to order, with this type service, we will always make this our number 1 location !! The French Toast at Mae Dunne Kitchen & Goods had me hyped. They use brioche, a bread known for its richness and potential for thick slices, but the final product was just above average.

While the toast itself was good, it fell short of expectations, especially considering the price. Like many places, the it was thinly sliced, which felt like a missed opportunity. Imagine a fluffy, three-bite stack – that's what I was hoping for.

On the bright side, the bacon was delicious, and the fruit was decent, though a touch sweeter would have been nice. Presentation-wise, there's room for improvement.

Overall, Mae Dunne's French Toast is good, but not mind-blowing. If thicker brioche slices become an option in the future, I'd be back for another try.“

“We hosted a Celebration of Life at BJ's Brewhouse, Hwy 281 N. Could not have been more satisfied with the atmosphere, service, and especially the food. There were 80 of us with the Pizza and Salad Buffet. EVERYBODY there remarked how wonderful how wonderful the pizza and service were. I've heard terms like "never had pizza this good", "the service was excellent", "wonderful place." I highly recommend this particular location for events. EXCELLENT.“

“Fantastic food and great service. The crab Rangoon were on the small side but perfectly fried. I had the Tom Yum soup, which had an odd sweetness to it, but was tasty otherwise. The crispy tofu were well-cooked. My partner had the Flying Tiger chicken with orange sauce, which had the best tempura breading I've ever had in my life. It was also a massive dish that easily served the two of us and left me taking some of my soup home to finish.

It's a small restaurant but everything was cooked to perfection. I'll definitely be returning, and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal to warm themselves up with.

“Absolutely love this gem in North San Antonio! The chicken katsu curry is devine and cooked to perfection. The curry sauce is simple but well balanced and full of flavor. They also have some of the best crab rangoons I've ever had in the states. Will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this small intimate experience.“

When it comes to the soup; they have two types of noodles, wide or thin and spice levels ranging from 1-5. “Another Yelp gem! Our family was craving traditional Chinese food. Most of the places I was finding in the area were mainly Americanized Chinese food. Even this place had mainly general tsos chicken and the such in their pictures but I saw the high reviews and their menu had a different section for chefs speciality items. Those items looked more traditional even though the reviews didn’t reflect a lot of people necessarily ordering it, was worth a shot.

Upon getting seated, we noticed that yes their menu was heavily pushing the Americanized options there was a whole page dedicated to traditional options. They start your table off with fried wonton strips, like the ones you put on top of soups. My kids love this!

We ordered 4 entrees the eggplant, the beef and bok choy, the peppery pork chops, and the black pepper shrimp.

My favorite was the black pepper shrimp, they use big shrimps here and it’s not overly salty. The beef and bok Choy was loaded with beef, the eggplant stayed crispy, not mushy, and pork chops were extra crispy. Each plate was huge, and plenty for our family of 6 with leftovers.

The meal ended with complimentary red bean sesame balls, and this was the best part of the meal! My kids ate them all up.

The service was super attentive, they were constantly refilling drinks and fulfilling any requests. Truly a hidden gem in SA.“

The service from the young waitress was a bit lacking and unfriendly, but the food was good, the portions were reasonable, and the owner(?) was lovely. It was an especially hot day, and she brought out some hwachae for the customers, which was so sweet of her.“
