Doña Maria is a family-owned restaurant with a cozy atmosphere, loved by locals and newcomers alike. The restaurant serves fantastic food, including delicious dishes like carne guisada, asado de puerco, barbacoa, and menudo. The Barbacoa Plate and Pancake Plate are particularly noted for their rich flavors and perfect portions. The handmade tortillas are a highlight, although some reviewers found the chips to be stale and store-bought. The service is friendly and attentive, with staff who aim to make customers feel like family, though experiences with service quality have varied. The decor is colorful and quirky, with soft music playing in the background. Despite some minor drawbacks, Doña Maria remains a hidden gem offering generous servings and flavorful food at a great value. The spicy salsa is a must-try for those looking for an extra kick. It’s a popular spot, especially during the week when the place is packed with community members, and the wait for a table can be long. Both breakfast and lunch options are good, with favorites like huevos rancheros, cheese enchiladas, and chile rellenos. The restaurant is a true hole-in-the-wall with a lively atmosphere and lots to notice each time. It closes at 2:00 pm, and the rice and beans are made with chicken stock and lard, so strict vegetarians may find it difficult. With convenient parking nearby, Doña Maria is a great place for a tasty and welcoming dining experience.
