“My wife and I dined here on a Thursday evening, and were sat somewhat awkwardly across from a group of three women dining together. We were the only people in the restaurant. The experience was --- interesting. As is common with tasting menu restaurants, there was a story to go with each dish presented. Also as common with this sort of thing, some dishes were better than others, and many were just okay. At $150 per person, it was on the expensive side, and I question whether it was worth that. Perhaps $100 would have been appropriate. A wine/cocktail option was offered for something like an additional $125, but everyone declined. We were filled to excess by the food, and found it difficult to imagine having space for drinks on top of that. An interesting experience, but we are unlikely to return at this price point. I think that I have decided that tasting menus just aren't my cup of tea, and I really prefer to go to a place where I can select exactly what I want.“

“Let me just tell you about this place. The Thai food is amazing and some of the best you will ever eat around the greater Houston area….heck in any area. The service is amazing and they make you feel you are right at home. They are friendly and care about you having a great fine dining experience. I am a creature of habit so I love my favorite dishes (Spring Rolls, Lobster Dumplings, Goat Cheese Salad, and Chicken Panang). I have been coming to Merlions for the past 14 years. It is a gem and can never get enough of their foods nor ever say anything horrible about their staff. I have had 2 tops to 20 top parties, and they have always been spot on. I read some of these poor reviews and think are we even at the same restaurant?? The owners and staff pride themselves on service and are sticklers for getting the food and drinks out in time. The food is made from scratch to order so it’s the freshest when it lands on your table. I rarely post reviews but I could not resists after I read some of these negative ones. You can’t go wrong with Merlions. It is an amazing place in every way!! Great people, great service, and outstanding food!!!!“

“We live out on the Westside not too far from Bellaire. Coming down to visit my parents once in a while and we decided to try this place out. I got the beef soup and my wife the drunken noodles and a cup of hot Thai tea. It was all very good and we definitely will be coming back and telling friends and family to check it out.The soup and the tea were nothing like I've had before. Nothing like pho and the tea unlike any other black tea. It was all different, pleasant, and delicious.Dietary restrictions: My wife is gluten intolerant and all the noodles dishes aren't made with wheat. In fact probably most of the dishes are rice based.“

“The atmosphere is a little dated, but don't let that fool you, the food is fantastic and the staff is great! I had the pad kee mao to try something new. Very nice wide-noodle dish with a chili sauce. Wife had the Thai-style beef stew (PB6, or #7 on the Saturday lunch menu). I tried hers and was blown away! So much flavor, and the beef was super tender. I am definitely ordering that one for myself next time.“

“We used to frequent the Webster location almost daily. Had many of work lunches as well at the Webster location. Then they opened the league city location. Same great food carried over. Ordered many of dishes from the curries to noodles dishes such as the pad Thai, pad see ew. I love a small chain restaurant that keeps menus taste exactly the same. Great job guys.“
