I went here with my family first and last time and the experience we had was not good. the food was tasteless and was served barley warm. they do not use salt in any of the food that we ordered. the salad bar was a mess and the pinto beans area was nasty and gross. We went about a year ago. The catfish had no flavor whatsoever. Salad bar was ok. Would not recommend this place.
I did a pickup order today, for the first time. The fried catfish was fabulous. it was clean, flavorful and crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside. The sides were delicious and the hush puppies were awesome. I could have made a meal just out of those.
Even though this was my first carry out order from them, it definitely won't be my last.

David Beard's Catfish King is a restaurant with delicious fried catfish and huge handbreaded chicken strips. The salad bar is fresh and the pricing is fair. The building might need maintenance, but the service is friendly and efficient. The fried shrimp lunch special is a lot of food for a good price, and the hushpuppies are delicious. The waitresses are better too. The catfish was not great, it was small and slightly dry and greatly lacking in flavor. Fries were also pretty bland. Same story with the hush puppies. Good salad bar options though. Staff was also very friendly and the place seemed popular with the locals. It's a very busy restaurant, it's clean, good food and nice wait staff. Parking is easy access and there is wheelchair parking up front.
