“Lovely bar, super friendly staff- and if they are reading this- I did wander off with the barman's lighter- I am so sorry! No food served, but can get very good burgers delivered from the place next door. A lovely evening all in all :)“
“We were visiting from Boston and this place was everything a Texas bar can be and more! It was a whole vibe, a cowboy was going to walk in at any moment. Great hospitality, great atmosphere, a LOT of fun!!! My friends and I had the best time hanging out here. We can't wait to go back the next time we visit.“
“If this place did not exist, one would need to invent it. The staff is very friendly with the owners being hands on. The atmosphere is bright and airy (even though there are no windows). The bar is very well equipped and the prices will not break anybody's bank. The food served whether or not free or sold is excellent. No bar food here - just good down home stuff.“
“Interesting pub with, what seems to be, a heavy locals gathering. It's a very small but cozy bar. They had karaoke the night I ventured in for a quick drink. The service was good, and the prices are decent. They have a small patio right outside the front door. Parking is very convenient. I could see my car from the inside of the establishment. I would definitely return if I happen to be in the area again. I like small places with a good air.“
“? The atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming, and doesn't have excessively loud music.? There were people of all sorts here, but it seemed like a popular meet-up spot for friends and business.? The owner was friendly and regularly hopped between tables to check on friends and other patrons.? The food is good. They have some sort of cauliflower nuggets, which taste great and give vegitarians something to eat. The wings are flavored well, too. I saw a plate of fish and chips being served to a table and am eager to try them.? The various ranch sauces were slightly watery, but will otherwise lend the standard "ranch" flavor for someone who's had a few drinks ?f“
“Love the place!!! Stop next door to buy my wife a massage voucher for her birthday today and my car would start after. While waiting on her to come and get me went in and had a beer. Friendly staff and customers. Was surprised by the Sonesta Essential Houston Westchasemenu. Will be back for the lamb chops soon.“
“I found Velvet Oak Tavern on a Sunday morning while searching Google for a good brunch spot. Upon entering, I was greeted by the bartender who also seated me and took my drink and food order. The restaurant has a nice setup, and I'm sure it's the perfect place to watch sporting events. My order was not exactly what they had on the menu. I added a twist to mine, and I can't exactly remember what myself and the bartender did. However, when it came out, it was phenomenal! I was very impressed! You know it's good when you are dancing in your seat to no music! I loved the outside patio with the view of the street. It's perfect for people watching. I did notice they offered a military discount as I was leaving, which was a letdown, because I didn't know that prior to paying. I also didn't like the automatic gratuity added without knowing. If I'm ever in the area again. I'd stop in again and definitely take advantage of that discount.“
“I loved that they offered video games! It was a very cool experience being able to sit and connect with others at the bar while playing Mario Kart! KT had other games as well. She even had a drink specials based on Mario Kart which I thought was very neat! Her service was great and I felt very welcomed! Will definitely be coming back!“
“Legitimate Thai cuisine with authentic flavor, heat and huge portions. I think Tom Yum is one of the best tests of a Thai restaurant. The broth and balance of galangal and spices was one of the best I’ve had in North America. Also had the Pad Thai which was very good on the flavor with a huge amount of chicken. The presentation in the delicate egg omelet was surprisingly artful!“
“I always go to this Einstein's when I need to eat late &wanna drink. Good crowd here, good folks come here. The bar food can't be beat. Obvious attention to detail in the menu & preparation of their menu items, which I'd say are a cut above the quality of food at almost any other bar. Later nite Bartender excellent, very focused professional, personable guy. The arcade piece is fun: they have so many pin-ball games, traditional arcade games & newly-made old electronic arcade games, how could you & your date not have fun?! My only issue is music, since I'm older--too much pounding "rap" for my taste. More use of pop rock & rock classics would help a lot.Kid-friendliness: If you go early, say at dinner time or earlier, I'd say you could show your kids a good time here, w/all their legacy arcade games!“
“Favorite place bc it has pool, darts, cheap beer, and classic rock playing all the time. Also has kinda nice leather indoor seating with a cool back patio. Also isn't super packed. Fits every desire I have in a bar where I want to bring a date “
“Darts, Darts, Darts! Warm, friendly service. GREAT DART PUB! Met new friends Chuck, Pierce, Patrick and Joel. Serve draft beers in actual pint glasses with a wide selection to choose from. Tournaments on Saturday and Wednesday. If you’re in Houston, you have to come to Ron’s Pub. Shoeless Jeff Approved!Parking: Easy parking on Thursday night for sure. Plenty of parking otherwise.“
“On our regular Friday Happy Hour Date-night, I found we were right around the corner from Lizzards Pub…we went in & sat at the bar. Immediately you know this is a neighborhood bar - everyone knew everyone. Ashley was the bartender & is great! She was fun to talk with & she made a mean ‘dirty’ Martini! Oliver is a big old boy - possibly part retriever & part Pitty…a sweetie! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves & have now put Lizzards on our list to revisit!“
“The Red Lion is a well-established proper English pub with great food and good pours in a part of this city that desperately needed a "third place" --somewhere other than home or work, where locals can congregate outside of the confines of obligation. The food is great. You will meet interesting locals from all walks of life.“
“We got a Houston cheese pizza and a Detroit style Sausage pizza. We also had some garlic knots. The pizza itself was tasty. Certainly not the best pizza ever, but not anything like a chain restaurant. The marinara sauce (as well as the garlic knots) was delicious and well worth. The vibe is definitely a bar, and they serve delta 9 (as close to weed as you can legally get in Texas) out of a vending machine. The waitress was obviously high (squinty, incredibly red eyes, slurred words, the whole 9) but we didn’t mind. Not gonna win awards for service, but I’m there for pizza to be honest, not a sober waitress.I’d definitely recommend coming here for some pizza, but you’ve gotta get those garlic knots too.Probably *not* kid friendly, though I’m sure they don’t claim to be.Parking: Nearby lots that you can pay. Super cheap though.Kid-friendliness: Bar, sells weed, not kid friendly.“
“First time to downtown Sugarland (2-22-24). We were visiting our niece who likes this restaurant/bar. Beer selection was pretty good and tasty. Food was good and portions adequate. We went in the evening so the downtown was very pretty with all the strings of lights. Parking lots are free. In warmer weather the streets/bars/restaurants would be a lot of fun. Would recommend“
“This is a your quintessential neighborhood bar - and fills a niche that the closest bars around it don't meet. You may get fancier cocktails and food at Toasted Coconut or more of a scene at Nonno's, or more of a vibe at 93 Til, but sometimes you just need a good ole dive bar to chill with large groups of friends. They have a huge space with both indoor and large patio area. They have jumbo, high quality screens everywhere, so it's always a great atmosphere during game times and sporting events. They constant host events so definitely follow them on socials to keep up with their calendar - they have a great trivia scene, live music at times, and all sorts of food events like steak night and crawfish. Although a bit more of a dive, don't sleep on their cocktails as they have a pretty expansive menu you wouldn't expect at an establishment like this. They pour a good Guinness draft, and have a variety of local beers and imports. The bartenders are all extremely hardworking and friendly. Food-wise, they have a limited menu that includes basic bar snacks like pretzels and frozen pizza (I swear this has to be Red Baron). But the bonus is that they typically allow outside food, so can order delivery or bring whatever you want to eat with you. The tamale guy also makes fairly regular rounds at Penny Whistle, especially on trivia nights. There's been a lot of talk what constitutes third spaces, and in this part of Montrose, this would be one of mine. If you're ever in the neighborhood drop by Penny Whistle and come and say hi!“
“Came here today because I wanted tamales, while there i saw the rest of the menu. I asked if they could make the nachos supreme into California fries... I forgot to ask them to change the meat from taco meat to carne asada but it still came out great! I now have a place to go get California style carne asada fries! They are also the nicest people ever. Glad I found em“
“I was craving crawfish and they had the perfect spicy garlic butter seasoning ? The bartenders were friendly (Abby & Chris- very welcoming) and made the perfect mix to our drinks. Great atmosphere and can't beat the prices! Definitely coming back!“
