I was just swinging through town solo and stepped into the bar area to eat. I have been there a few times, and ALL the food is excellent. But usually when u sit in the bar area on a busy night (Friday) you are all but ignored. However, probably the best service I have ever had. Constant multiple waiters walking by asking for what you need, but not in that annoying way where you cant eat. Drinks were Johnny on the spot, everything out quickly. A most excellent establishment.
The food does not match up with the beautiful building and atmosphere. The menu hasn't changed in 10 years and the quality is ok at best. Oysters were fresh , Mahi new Orleans was served warm ,items on top dry and cold. Gumbo overly spiced ,couldnt find any shrimp in it, but sausage -Humm. Shrimp in etouffee were large , tail on them , awkward to eat...gummy consistency and unflavored. Great tourist spot if you don't plan on returning. Service and drinks were good.
