What a pleasant surprise ! I didn't know this great little spot existed in Gruene!We went during the week - so missed brunch. So will def be back to try that!!Our waitress was a delight (for the life of me I can't remember her name :( )I had the fully loaded bloody Mary of deliciousness ?And some Deviled eggs and fried green tomatoes --- all soooo good.My family all had different fried chicken delights and all loved their meals.I highly recommend The Birdhouse for families, lunch dates, friends brunches....any gathering where your seeking a wholesome comfort yummy meal.(Only thing we didn't like - corn bread. Not to our personal taste )

Had a small girls’ night dinner and had heard great things about the Birdhouse. Food was incredible..George (our server) was personable, fun and overall fantastic. Cannot wait to bring my daughters back as they LOVE chicken and this was the BEST (also the jalapeño cream corn could be a meal in itself it was so good). Highly recommend!
I was skeptical of the Mac n cheese and the chicken, but oh my were they good. The skin was crunchy and seasoned, the meat just juicy, and the Mac was surprisingly good. Fried pickles for the appetizer, some of the best I've ever had, think when I go back, gotta try the deviled eggs. Now, my steamed veggies, the green beans were waxy, the broccoli was mush and the carrots were cut way too big, like I don't want no 3/4 inch cut carrot, thus 4 stars instead of 5.

I’m not even sure where to start!! Tasted my wife’s Nashville Hot Chicken and WOW!!! Mine and my father chicken friend chicken cooked in duck fat was phenomenal! We have went a couple times during lunch and always impressed! Birdhouse keep up the great work and damn good food!

Great concept with even better food! Weekend brunch menu is great, and the new full bar is a great place to park-up eat (and have a drink) real quick. Reservations are recommended when they have live music, can get very busy depending on the artist(s)!

We had heard good things about The Birdhouse, but unfortunately we were a little disappointed. I got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich with the pasta salad. The sandwich was good, but not amazing. I didn’t like the pasta salad so the server brought me the Mac n cheese which was amazing. My husband got the hot chicken tendies and felt the same - just okay. The mashed potatoes were average. I also got a Bloody Mary and it was okay. Stick with the wine there. While our server was super sweet and helpful (and I appreciated the Mac n cheese), she had so many tables that we barely saw her. It took a long time before she came to us the first time. They probably need to hire more servers.
