“J-5 offers a perfect combo of laid back Austin vibe, nice cocktails and wine selection, fresh, perfectly prepared food, and friendly, yet spot-on service. We ate an early dinner and shared the restaurant with folks from just off work having a beer to families enjoying a Friday dinner. Our server Jackson was fun and professional, always there without being in the way. Manager was hands on, checking orders, visiting with patrons, and cleaning tables…whatever was required for smooth operation and excellent experience. Bulleitt rye old-fashioned was a bullseye and they even had a wine for the wine ponce; Electric Jellyfish for me. Firecracker shrimp could be a meal on its own, lightly fried with a yummy slaw. Our prime filets were moist and perfectly prepared…admit we’re generally hesitant to order steaks out, but were not disappointed, very pleased in fact. Bustling, fun atmosphere, with plenty of room outside if preferred. Easily the best “nice meal” option in Spicewood.“
