“On July 12 my grandmother and I went to lunch at Top Sushi when a huge storm came in. The manager who has always been so friendly, welcoming, and kind was there and went to every table offering to walk each customer to their car with his personal umbrella. While I went to grab the car he stayed with my grandmother, held her things, and made sure she got in the car dry while he got hit by the rain. He also showed such concern to me making sure I wasn’t driving far and told me we were more than welcome to stay at the restaurant until the storm is over. I was so moved by his gracious acts and being a genuinely great person. You don’t see that anymore and I am so appreciative of him. I did not get his name but I want him to know how much that moved my grandmother and I. Thank you!!“

We were overwhelmed with the menu at first and he talked us through the entire experience. The place was clean and the vibe was great. “My lady, my son, and my niece out here for dinner and it was a phenomenal experience from start to finish. If you want top-tier entertainment alongside incredible food, this is the spot.The steak was cooked to a perfect medium, the shrimp was seasoned beautifully, and that fried rice is addictive. Everyone left full and happy. Excellent service, clean grill, and a beautiful atmosphere for a family night out. Will definitely be back!Service was fast and attentive even though they were busy. “Everything we ate was fabulous! I’m picky about my sushi, and wasn’t sure about a small place in a strip mall, but I’m so glad we made the choice!

The sushi was fresh and tasted great. All portions were slightly larger than expected. The spicy tuna hand roll was packed and the spice was just right.

The only other customers there were a small family gathering of 6 adults and 4 children. More people should be in the fabulous restaurant. I’ll be going back!“

“Typical iza robata. Normally we go to the one in Vintage Park but we decided to try out this location and was pleasantly surprised.

The menu looks the same and the kebabs were spot on.

“The sushi sashimi combo was perfect, not that you can really screw up sashimi, but I've seen it happen. For the money, better option than all you can eat if you ask me. Add a warm spider roll and you're set.

My only complaint is how freaking loud it can be. Went on a Saturday night, but it was just as loud the Tuesday night I was there. Could also maybe coach those bussing tables to be a little more careful on dumping dishes.“

“Absolutely love this place. The food is great. The patio is a fantastic atmosphere for doing dinner with our young kids. They have a blast with the cat statue and cherry blossom tree out front. The service is always on point. Big shout out to Bella who took care of us on our most recent visit. She was excellent (very personable and attentive.) Will definitely request her if she's available on our next visit.“

“From the time we walked in there til the time we left, everything was absolutely amazing. Even the couple who sat near us bragged about the same things that we did. Jay was amazing and very accommodating. Unfortunately, I didn't get the hibachi cook's name, but he was just as amazing. The portions were plentiful and cooked to perfection. I don't mean to sound commercial and all. It's just that you can't find good food AND service at the same time. I hope it stays that way. My husband said the visit there just added to his already good Father's Day! I hope things remain the same here!“

“I come to Shogun a lot but what I love the most is the CUSTOMIZED experience! Angel is one of the bestttttt chef. Honestly I had him once when I first came & EVERY time I come, I ONLY request him. His hospitality. His kindness & the way he interacts with my child. I just enjoy the entire experience. Recently I met Dayan, I had NO idea he was a manager. I never got a drink from here so I sat at the bar to wait for Angel to get off break & I requested a lemon drop. Let’s just say I’m here now the VERY NEXT DAY for another lemon drop. You can’t even taste the liquor but after ONE drink I’m there. Catherine serves me. She’s one of the BEST servers. I love the fact I can choose the server & choose the chef I want to prepare my food. I’m guaranteed a great experience. I love everything about Shogun & I’m just so happy. I love on Kuykendahl so I always stop by to enjoy. Tonight I’ll be trying sushi for the first time ever!! I appreciate everyone here even the hostess for an amazing experience from the moment I walk in. Madison and Rebecca are SO friendly and welcoming. My wife and I stopped in for lunch on Saturday, and it was a great experience. The restaurant was nice and quiet, which made for a relaxing meal. We’ve been coming here for years but hadn’t visited in over two years, so it was exciting to see that the food quality is still outstanding.

Everything tasted fresh and delicious. We especially loved the spicy scallop and tuna hand rolls — always a favorite! The bento boxes were warm, generous, and full of flavor, and the miso soup was comforting and perfectly seasoned.

Service was friendly and efficient, and the food came out quickly. It’s great to know this place continues to deliver consistently high quality. We’ll definitely be back again soon!“

While the hibachi dishes left much to be desired – with fishy-tasting soup, mediocre fried rice, and average steak – the sushi, particularly the fish's size and quality, earned high praise from my husband, a Tokyo native. Yet, inconsistencies in rice texture across rolls and the unappetizing presentation of rice spilling from the sides marred the sushi experience. The restaurant's ambiance was undeniably beautiful, but the unsightly vents on the ceiling detracted from its overall appeal. Moreover, our encounter with the manager, Kristie, soured the experience further. Despite making a reservation, navigating the nuances of hibachi dining on OpenTable proved challenging, leading to an unpleasant interaction with Kristie upon arrival. Her demeanor lacked hospitality, and her approach to handling reservations felt unwelcoming and unnecessary. Despite these setbacks, the allure of high-quality sushi draws us back, albeit to the alternative location to bypass any potential encounters with Kristie. Sakekawa may have its flaws, but for sushi aficionados seeking top-notch fish, it remains a contender in The Woodlands’ sushi scene.“
