Restaurantji unveils Winona's must-visit Mexican dining spots.
“Came in for a late lunch. Late for me. I decided to try the sopas with carne asada and washed it down with a authentic tall glass CokeDining room and Restrooms were clean.I felt that I could not get the true salty taste of the carne asada with the beans. The sauces where a little thinned down as well. More than likely this is just a taste preference of mine. The owners were super friendly and you could tell this is a family restaurant as they had their own family dining with them. It made it a true authentic atmosphere. I actually felt grateful to be dining with them. The only two things I would suggest is having more clearly marked restrooms (I might have missed them) and having a way to take card payments other than Cash app. But I do believe it's regulars that visit this place, and I'll know in the future to bring cash as I will be returning. Thanks for having me“
“Delicious, no-nonsense food. Order and pay at counter. They didn't come around to refill water. Beverages are bottles unless you get tap water. No salsa was served with the small bowl of chips, but that didn't matter to me. 3 young children were able to split the tex quesadilla. Lunch steak fajita was delicious and perfect size. Nice for a quiet atmosphere to eat lunch. The staff was friendly.“
“I have been eating here for over 20 years! This is the hands down best authentic Mexican food around! They have never treated me different than any other person in there. I see lots of bad reviews about race and I have never had an issue. Everyone is always super nice! And the prices are great. But the food.....the food is absolutely amazing!“
“It was a delicious meal. I came right before close and got the Moms Torta with pork. I had it with rice and beans, and the rice was really flavorful and the torta itself had an amazing taste. I don't usually like tortas but I'd come again to eat this. All in all it ran me 16 dollars. The environment was cool, reminded me of a Starbucks. You could come in here and eat while you work. There's even a conference room.“
“I spent a few days close by while I was traveling through the area and ate here twice. I had the mixed fajitas for dinner and would consider them above average, for sure. Great margaritas.I had the omelet for breakfast, and it was amazing. Seriously, it's as good as it gets.On both occasions, a man who I assume was the owner shook my hand and welcomed me in.“
“We were at Jelly Stone, looking for a restaurant to get lunch, Ruby's was a bit far but had good reviews. I'm glad we came here. The shrimp cocktail, birria tacos, and enchiladas were so delicious. Also, the service and prices are amazing.“
“So like this place should be a 5 star , but their lack of renovation is what keeps them from being that .Their food is 5 star by far , but like their fridge can’t shut properly, and they never let people eat on the second floor which ruins the mood sometimes. Other than some renovation this place is great with high quality food.“
“I ordered the 3 taco plate with twice and beans with the shrimp, octopus & fish taco, fried fish and grilled fish taco! They were delicious! Our server kinda forgot about us so I had to walk to her and ask for water. Other than that awesome food and service.“
“Authentic Mexican food, not quite the Tex-mex that most “gringos” think of… the beef birrias are perfectly awesome- get them using corn tortillas and fried. Meaty, cheesy and delicious. Kind of a hole in the wall dining room so doesn’t have a polished restaurant attributes but it’s authentic and in big sandy… super sincere and polite wait staff. They make their own tostadas and they are small and made from flour tortillas… so not what you are used to getting but give them a whirl, they are fine.“
“I've been coming here to dine for I know 22 years. The food is truly home cooked by a great chef and the breakfasts are to die for. The lunch plates are very full and healthy. You can also order a veggie plate. Yummy. The crew there are extremely helpful and efficient.“
