For when the weather is nice, there is an outside seating area with a ping-pong table, corn hole, and a jumbo sized Chess set. Good times.“

I had called the location on 35th and some Hispanic lady answered and when I asked her about the coupon I had and right when I finished she hung up on me! So I called this location on 56th west and Abi answered the phone almost instantly and when I explained the situation he took my order right there and 15 minutes later I was walking out with my pizzas! “I was visiting from out of state and had never been to Big Daddy Pizza before, but after seeing all the great reviews, I decided to give it a try. Let me just say, it absolutely lived up to the hype and then some!

From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a friendly smile and genuine hospitality that instantly made me feel welcome, even though I’m not a local. The place has that comfortable, laid-back vibe you want in a pizza spot — nothing pretentious, just good people serving up great food. The staff took the time to explain the menu, offer recommendations, and even cracked a few jokes while I was deciding. It honestly felt like I had been coming there for years even though it was my first visit.

Now let’s talk about the food — because that’s the real star here. I ordered a large pizza with half pepperoni and half veggie because I wanted to sample both ends of the spectrum. The crust blew me away. It was perfectly balanced: crispy on the outside yet soft and chewy on the inside. You could tell it wasn’t rushed or cheaply made — this was dough done right. The sauce had a rich tomato flavor with just the right amount of herbs and seasoning, and it wasn’t overly sweet like some places tend to do. Every bite had depth of flavor that made me want to slow down and savor it.

The cheese was gooey, stretchy, and full of that classic mozzarella flavor that ties everything together. On the pepperoni side, the slices had those little crispy edges that curl up just slightly, releasing that savory, smoky flavor — exactly how good pepperoni should be. On the veggie side, everything tasted incredibly fresh: crisp green peppers, flavorful mushrooms, and juicy tomatoes that actually tasted like tomatoes. Nothing felt canned or pre-packaged.

I also ordered a side of wings because I wanted to try more of their menu. They came out hot, meaty, and full of flavor. The sauce had a nice kick without being overpowering, and the wings themselves were cooked perfectly — not soggy, not overdone, just right.

What impressed me just as much as the food was how attentive and kind the staff were throughout the whole visit. Even though the place got busy, I never felt rushed. They checked in, refilled my drink, and genuinely seemed to care that I was enjoying myself. That kind of service makes a huge difference and really stood out to me.

As someone traveling through, I’ve had pizza in a lot of places, but Big Daddy Pizza honestly ranks among the best. It’s not just about great ingredients — it’s the way they put everything together with care and pride. I left full, happy, and wishing I had a Big Daddy Pizza back home.

“Dough and cheese are good. Toppings are few and far between. Really skimping on their $2-$3 extra toppings. Might try again in a couple months. I’m rooting for this place, you can do better! Also careful one pizza’s crust was blackened on one edge, but not a big deal.

Update 3/3/26: I've changed my review to 4 stars and gave the restaurant another chance (as they asked).
Ordered two more pizzas from here. Again, dough and cheese were amazing. But about 1/3 of the outer crust on both pizzas was burnt/blackened. And I had the same issue with toppings as before. They are few and far between. For example, in my opinion, something like a Hawaiian pizza where the featured topping is pineapple, there should be enough pineapple to get a piece with almost every bite. Instead there was maybe two or three per slice, and the ham was hard to find. On both pizzas most bites are just crust, sauce, and cheese. Maybe this is the type of pizza they are trying to create, - light, minimalist. If so that's fine, and it's just my preference for heavier toppings that doesn't line up.“

“We came here for our 11-yr anniversary. For our 10-yr anniversary we did a pizza crawl in Chicago, Detroit, NYC, and New Haven Connecticut. So this year we did a much smaller version to check out pizza more local to us. Compared to the pizzas we tried in NYC, it was pretty good! The slices are huge. I got a pepperoni slice and my husband got a cheese slice and a bacon/green olive slice.
I thought it was pretty great overall, but my husband wished the crust was more crispy, though he liked the sauce.
The staff was friendly, but the music they were playing was pretty awful and the bathroom was gross. Overall great pizza and we’d come again.“

“Good calzones here. It cost about $6 for a calzone without sides. I recommend getting this instead of a slice of pizza which is advertised as $4. The calzone had the option of beef or pepperoni. It was really yummy and came with a side of marinara. I thought it was a unique and yummy take. It didn’t have much sauce in it, but the beef was very flavorful and there was some sort of cheese. It gets heated up by moving down a conveyor belt.Staff was friendly and attentive.“

I called them as soon as I knew I wasn't going to be able to make it during the scheduled pick up time, and when I did eventually get there, they offered to remake the order for me so it was fresh and hot. I declined, as the mistake was mine to begin with, but what kind and courteous customer service!
