“This was an amazing little gem of a Mexican restaurant near Reedville, Virginia. We had no expectations when we saw the establishment as you were driving by.We decided to stop on a whim and were comforted that even though it was off hours, the parking lot was already about half full.We walked into a modern well decorated Mexican restaurant that we learned has been opened for just a few months.We were quickly seated at a clean booth and the waiter quickly came over and was very friendly and cordial and took our initial orders. At the same time another person brought heaping baskets of very crisp chips and tons of salsa. In most Mexican restaurants you keep on having to ask for more salsa and I was pleasantly surprised that the large containers of salsa that are brought before us. It was quite good.I come from Arizona and there are no shortage of Mexican restaurants there. I really did not have much expectation in terms of the food quality here. There was an abundance of selections on the menu and we placed our orders. When the food came out, I was stunned by how large the portions were, especially considering how reasonable the prices were. It's been my experience in the past that large portions do not necessarily equal tasty meals. In this case I was pleasantly surprised because of food was excellent. It burst with flavor without being overwhelming and everything tasted fresh. Normally I can finish even a large portion in one setting but I could only eat half of my burrito and save the rest for later. Even after microwaving lead portion it remain delicious.Los portales has shown that good tasty food does exist even in out of the way Reedville. The next time I'm in town I will certainly visit again. I highly recommend this place with its excellent food and wonderful service.Parking: The parking lot is a decent size but because of how popular this place is, it does fill up quickly at peak meal times.”

“This place has changed hands/leadership and thus has had waves of good and bad. Worst was some okesh pizza, but we always came back. The managment and staff are in full stride now and have worked out the kinks.Great service, friendly staff, really good food at good prices and with very large portions. Plus, Icecream is an option! Its a NNK staple.”

“A nice fun local find! The wine was very good! Great atmosphere. We ordered the pizza and a dozen raw oysters. All was quite tasty, but the oysters could have been a bit colder. I usually get them in the shells on ice at other places. These were already shucked and lined up on a long plate over lettuce. It was a nice presentation, but by the time half were eaten the others were almost room temp. Just a small suggestion that maybe some ice on plate (under the lettuce?) would have been a bit better. However not a huge deal. We will be back either way! Looking forward to trying the grilled oysters next month! Everyone working there was extremely friendly and this will no doubt be one of our local hangouts! I also love that they offer bottled beer and hard cider! They have outdoor seating so we look forward to taking our small dog on nice days! Highly recommend!”

“Ordered online. Everything was exactly as I ordered, except the salad dressing. I ordered regular dressing, but there was so much in the bowl I couldnt even eat it. Like I could ring the dressing out of the spinach. Probably wont order online again so I can see how much product is being used.”

“The food was excellent and my server did a good job. However there were several people sitting at the bar that were drunk, loud and out of control. Some of them were employees. Their language was horrible and I ate my dinner as they loudly discussed women’s nipples. So inappropriate in a restaurant! If I ever return, it definitely won’t be for dinner if this is how the restaurant is allowed to operate. I ate my entire meal listening to ongoing cursing in every sentence and other vulgarities. If the food wasn’t so good I would have walked out. The owners need to take a long look at their staff before the full season starts or you’ll be loosing a lot of business.”

“We had a great meal the snow crab legs were to die for and the filet was perfect. Our server Glen was incredible on a most busy and “light on staff” Easter afternoon. Eat here you’ll be glad you did.”
