“My first time ate there! So impressive, friendly staff who tried to do his best to sign language to communicate with deaf customers which was so amazing!! We also ordered pizza and only waited for less 10 mins. Definitely had a good pizza. Appreciate it a lot, King! ???“

“Fortunato serves upscale Italian food in a pared down but trendy atmosphere. Yes, the semi/rustic style means diners either need to sit close together or shout to be heard. I was one of a weekday evening of a party of three all of whom love to try new food. Starting with the formaggi (cheese platter) to cannoli and semifreddo dessert, we were not disappointed. Each of us ordered a main dish. The vegetarian chose homemade pasta with a creamy cheese sauce; the meat eater, pork Milanese; and I, the roasted whole Branzino. I elelcted to trythis fish for comparison with similar dishes in a favorite Oriental restaurant. Fortunato’s Branzino preparation won hands down for me. The flesh was perfectly prepared - moist, tender, and almost falling off the bones. The side complimented the fish perfectly. I finished my cannoli accompanied by an espresso and a smile on my face.“

“We were taken to the restaurant whilst staying with new friends local to the area and to get to listen to the wonderful singer Annalyse Marie who was singing at the restaurant for the evening. - the restaurant Gusto is really wonderful with caring thoughtful staff but I have to say the food was truly wonderful ! I had the chicken bacon and Ranch Pizza and certainly never had this topping on a pizza before but thought why not give it a try ! I honestly with hand on my heart think this is the best pizza I have ever had in my life ! It was utterly delicious ! The right amount of cheese and sauce and a little messy but so worth it ! I keep dreaming about the pizza ever since ! I don’t think anywhere could beat how tasty this pizza was ! What a wonderful restaurant and if I wasn’t on a big trip I would absolutely return for more ! If you haven’t been to Gusto’s you’re missing out !“

“Had an enjoyable evening out during a business dinner. Atmosphere was 5 star! Service was almost 5 star, however we did feel a bit rushed in getting our food order in before we were even served our cocktails. The food was very good and we will return on our next visit to Roanoke!“

“Best “hole in the wall” in Salem. Over the course of this year, my wife and I have tried almost everything on the menu, from the subs, salads, pizzas, calzones and more. Everything has been amazing, our favorite appetizer is the Egyptian bread, so far. The marinara dipping sauce is the best ive had at a pizza place. Way better than HEMAS in Rocky Mount.Dietary restrictions: Halal“

“Got a take-out Supreme pizza and wings. My husband loved the pizza, it was pretty sturdy with all of the toppings, good crust, and floppy towards the center. Now I'm not a floppy pizza girly and I'm still on the search for a good thin crust but I did devour all the leftovers in the fridge once the pizza fully hardened up. Maybe I'm just a gremlin who doesn't understand pizza, but I do understand wings and they were just awful so took off a star for that. Way too crunchy, felt like eating a dried up rock that was deep fried with runny ranch. Get the pizza!?“

“It's tough to say which pizza place is my favorite in the Roanoke area, but I gotta say that Leonore's Pizza on Apperson is soooo delicious, and at the top of my list for best pizza in our area. Not only is their food great, but the owner is always very friendly and polite. If you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend!“

“Absolutely one of my favorite local gems. Bobby's is the perfect marriage between quality NY style pizza and the fresh artisanal pizza of California. My fiance and I have eaten here multiple times now and nothing has ever been less than perfection. The dough is crispy and chewy and buttery and full of flavor. All the sauces taste like they were made with love by my Italian grandmother. If you're visiting Roanoke or you live here this is a must!! Not only is the food perfection but the staff is always incredibly friendly and personal. Ready to recommend their favorite beer and pizza combination. The atmosphere is a laid back family friendly slate shop type of vibe and it just works. The decor is fun and quirky without being disruptively loud. They have lots of amazing local and craft beers to try along with the heavenly food. This time we had a pizza flight (three different slices of amazing pizza)Cheese curds, bacon, and red sauceChicken and bacon Alfredo calzoneBut honestly you can't go wrong with anything!!“

“Blaze Pizza is a really nice place for pizza. In case you've never been, it is a cafeteria like place. You pick your dough, or combo of toppings, your drink and then you pay. You move down the "pizza assembly line" and then choose your sauce. Next station you choose your cheeses. Next is the actual meat toppings and finally the veggies. They offer rising thick crust or a thin crust which are all fire oven cooked. If you have young kids it is fun for them to make all their own choices (with a little nudging and reminding from an adult). They keep quite busy, but we did go on a Saturday. You find a seat and a server will bring your food to your table, identified by your order number. The manager was walking through the room interacting with the customers and trying to keep the kids entertained. You need to check this place out.“

“My husband and I ate dinner here on a Saturday night while on an out-of-state trip. It's one of the only restaurants in the area and definitely had others dining there, but it wasn't "busy"/no wait time to be seated. The atmosphere was very nice. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food was very good, although the appetizers were overpriced. I got the white chicken chili, and my husband got the beef chili appetizer. Although the current menu online shows the chili at $5, it was $6-7 for a cup of it (each one) and came with a slice of cornbread. Both my husband and I were surprised when it came out because we both swore the menu said it came with cornbread and tortilla chips, but we didn't receive any tortilla chips (we did not ask about this). For meals, I got the BBQ chicken sandwich (without coleslaw) that came with chips, and my husband got the BBQ cheeseburger with pulled pork on it (also without coleslaw). He also upgraded to fries from chips. The meals were really good and came out promptly! I was still finishing my chili. My sandwich tasted great! The BBQ sauce was on the side, so I was able to add the amount of my liking to my sandwich. My husband's burger was the same with the sauce on the side, and he said it tasted very good! The fries also had great flavor (I tried some)! Additionally, my husband got a fruit beer which was tasty! I would recommend this place and return here if ever back in the area! Sometimes I get weird about restaurants out in the middle of nowhere that the service or food might be lacking, but people still go there just because it's all that's available, but that was not the case with this place!Parking: Gravel parking lot off the side of the road“

“Really enjoyed our visit to Mama Maria's! The young lady who served everyone was delightful! This provided a great start to what was very good food! My wife had the Cesar salad with shrimp, son had a cheese pizza, and I went for the bbq pizza. The cheese pizza was a perfect balance of cheese and sauce mine was rich in bbq sauce, cheese, pineapple with just the right amount of onion. Both of the pizzas had a perfectly done crunchy crust. If we are ever back in the area, will definitely return here!“

“Perfectly located in the Wasena area right along the Roanoke River and on the Greenway. Best place to start your walk or ride. End up at the green goat for a beer on the outside patio. Sausage and cheese plate is always good with a beer after a long walk. Food is always good. From this point on the green way you can walk to black dog salvage and look around or head the other way and end up at the hospital. My favorite place to walk on the greenway.“

“The food was good and fast. The staff was friendly. One issue is if you get the combo meal that comes with 10% off game cards and use a coupon for free tickets it will not work together. Also the games seem like they are not awarding tickets after two 90 minute cards plus bonus 1000 tickets only had 2100 tickets. Overall nice place to take small kids.“

“Went here for lunch around the holidays and ordered the Bellacinos Super. Staff were pleasant, the place was clean and the pizza itself came out pretty quick! Pizza is cut into squares which I enjoy, however I gravitated towards the outside crust pieces as the middle ones were a bit floppy. If you like gooey floppy pizza this place is probably your jam, the crust itself was pretty delightful and the cheese was overflowing. However I am a crunchy thin crust kinda girly, so I may try some more pizza places. Honestly if this place made some calzones I bet they'd be delish!“

“Talking about tonight specifically. My husband doesn’t usually care for Pizza Hut but it’s always been my favorite so we go back and forth between his favorite place and mine. So tonight we ordered Pizza Hut and he took a bite and his mind was blown. He said the pizza crust has never been a little “doughy” like it was tonight and he loved it. We wanted to call and compliment the chef(s) but the store was busy and figured we’d just leave a review here. Keep up the great work guys. This store has never been less than spot on for me. Thank you for all that you guys do.“

“Okay review time - me, I worked in NYC for 40 years so I know my pizza. I gotta laugh every time I see NEW YORK STYLE PIZZA - seems most Italian restaurants say that but pizza is terrible. Now Frank's Pizza is different - I really like the plain cheese pizza - crust was crispy, good quality mozzarella cheese - melted perfectly...just enough sauce.“

“Why 4 stars? This is a 3.5 in my mind, so in between on where it goes. Listen, this is a sports bar, so don't ask for the frills, white glove service or date ambience. Great sauce selection for wings, good bar food and the best tater tots I have had in a long time. Drink selection is fine, and the service was nice but not over the top. Will be back for football and tater tots!“

“We stopped in close to closing time with all the the kids. All the staff was extremely friendly, from the kitchen to the ladies serving us. They even offered to help find a coupon and didnt rush us out when they passed closing time. Got a classic pizza with mediterranean toppings (pepper, artichoke, olives) - the pizza and toppings were spot on and the cannolia were great! Also has a bar top sit-down multicade with Galaga, PacMan, and Donkey Kong, T2 pinball machine, and a racer cab! Loved that there was God-honoring music playing the whole time as well. All-in-all this was probably our favorite place we've sat down at in the whole area. We will be coming back every time we visit. Thank you guys!“
“Food was great. But the girl at the drive thru window who just yanked my money out of my hand and didn't even bother taking my change slammed the window shut before I could say anything. “This was a fun local spot to have dinner. Took my three kids there and they really enjoyed making their own pizzas. It's a fun little tavern type place. We happened to get there while there was an open table, but it def gets crowded and they do not take reservations. It was cold out so the patio wasn't open but they did have a fire going in the outdoor fireplace. Food was good and the wine was a nice big pour!“

“It's located in a very empty strip mall. Plenty of parking as the lot is pretty empty. You can feel the heat when walking in. They have on AC but that coupled with the oven makes it for a warmer than usual experience: they've got fans throughout but you can tell it's pretty dated in there. I don't think the AC can keep up with the hot oven. I wasn't sweating as we sat and waited but it was easily about 80 in there. Greeted with a friendly smile. We decided to dine in rather than drive all the way back and have cold food. We got our usual calzone and cheesesteak. The small calzone was enough to feed 2. The deluxe cheese steak was also filling. We both liked the cheesesteak. The bread had a nice crunch and it wasn't too cheesy or overly seasoned. I would get it without the lettuce and tomato next time. They weren't bad. I just didn't think they were needed. The calzone was only OK. I didn't find many meat pieces and it had an unfamiliar taste to it. I am guessing either worceshire or soy sauce. It wasn't bad, only different. It had a nice crust and sauce. I wouldn't get it again if choosing between that and the cheesesteak. The CS wins hands down for both of us. We didn't order pizza this time but I do want to try it. Inside was clean albeit clearly an older establishment. The decor and fixtures are definitely in a time warp. They were random things that were put on the walls with no theme. Not a problem, only an observation and a bit of a chuckle. Friendly service. The food does take some time to come out and it's piping hot when it does. They say good food takes time. We waited a good 20 minutes for ours to come out and we were the only ones there. The lady working the front said she was from Egypt and we had a nice conversation in Arabic. It doesn't happen very often in Roanoke as most people here that I've met who speak a middle eastern or North African language generally speak Dari or Pashto or even Farsi. We would go back to try the pizza when in the area. I give it an overall a solid 4 out of 5 because it was rather warm inside and because the calzone wasn't what we expected or hoped for. I would get the cheesesteak again too. The food was decent. Not sure I would go all that way for a cheesesteak though. It was good but not good enough to go out that way for that.“
