The supreme burrito experience. For basically the same price as a Chipotle burrito with radioactive levels of sodium, Barbie's Burrito Barn offers you a soulfully good newborn baby-sized burrito with pure ingredients. And the pico de gallo!! ?This place is the real deal

It was on a quiet midday morning that we fund ourselves at the intersection of functional space and eclecticism when my eyes fell upon Barbie's Burrito Barn, tightly nestled against the ruins of an iron giant. Crossing the threshold revealed shrines of Frida Kahlo, hot sauce of every make/model, and finally the maestro herself. Greeted with all the pleasantries of old friends, Barbie walked us through the menu and gave us her recommendations, after which we were invited to seat ourselves and enjoy the ambiance. Regulars steadily streamed in, resulting in a backdrop of warm conversation for our meal. The food was exactly as disclosed: sizeable portions of comfort food inspired by the amalgamation of culinary cultures out west. The plating isn't grandiose, nor is the concept hard to grasp. It's simple and delicious, albeit spicy if you're not accustomed to it, or so says my partner. Should you be given the recommendation to make time to dine here from a former Charlottesville resident—do it—I'm glad we did. To Barbie: thanks for the great food.

The best casual spot in Cville, hands down. The barn has become a staple of my eating in the area, boasting delicious burritos the size of a small child at incredibly reasonable prices. Barbie is one of the nicest, most genuine people you will ever meet, and the clean Frida Kahlo themed dining room makes for a fantastic experience.1. FoodBarbie’s pork burritos are a work of art. These monstrous works of art are made with love and will keep you full all day, and paired with her special salsa it’s a truly amazing experience. It’s priced incredibly reasonably at ~$11 for what is essentially 2 home-cooked meals.2. ServiceBarbie herself is the main reason I’m in the barn so often. She’s such a friendly, sweet, and caring person and a genuine pleasure to talk to. She’s funny, entertaining, and overall just fantastic to be around. A conversation with her will always brighten your day.She makes your food very quickly but takes the time to do it right. The quality has always been spot-on and I’ve never regretted coming in for lunch or dinner.3. AtmosphereThe burrito barn itself is a bit tricky to get to at the moment, but is worth it for sure. It doesn’t look like much on the outside, especially in the middle of a construction zone, but the interior makes you feel at home. It feels cozy while remaining spacious and bright. The decor is tastefully chosen and is fun to look closer at, especially a lot of the art. It’s also a remarkably clean dining room, with a bathroom and napkins as well as cold water easily available.Essentially, if you don’t frequent Barbie’s, you’re missing out.

Barbie is wonderful, and while I don't quite think the food here is a full 5 (the burrito itself was maybe a 3, the homemade sauce a 5) the value is incredible and is without a doubt the best value on or off the downtown mall, even beating out Otto's for dollar to calorie ratio. I should also mention the lack of flavor for me came with the vegan burrito which had no meat.

Barbies tacos and the rest of her food at the restaurant is authentic southwest or California Mexican food. It’s the best in C Ville!

Barbie is super friendly and attentive! The food was amazing, the guac tostada was piled high with beans, guac, radishes, cabbage and lettuce, and everything was very fresh. The hard taco and tostada shells were nice and crispy. The interior is small (14 seats total) and the outdoor eating area is right next to construction right now, but totally worth the trip to this sorta hidden gem.
