The Local Reviews
We have dined at many Charlottesville restaurants over the years, but always come back to our favorite casual dining place, The Local. Great food, service and beverages. It’s like a fun family get together!
We held my sons rehearsal dinner here last night and it was great!! Everyone raved about the food and the service was top notch. Claudia was amazing as she kept everything moving and she took such good care of us. I can’t wait to go back for dinner one night.
We were a almost turned away tonight due to us not having a reservation on a Monday evening. My wife and I were referred to this restaurant by the concierge at The Graduate. The host made us feel that they are judgmental of guests based on their attire. I had on shorts and t-shirt, my wife sweat pants and long sleeve shirt. The Local is a restaurant that offers a mix of experiences. The ambiance is great, with good music and lighting, and the cocktails and wine selection are pleasant. The service is friendly and attentive, with the staff managing to serve large parties effectively. The food quality can be inconsistent, with some dishes, like the dessert brownie sundae, being outstanding and well-cooked, while others have received mixed reviews, with some diners finding portions small or the food mediocre on occasion. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes, including flavorful and tender short ribs, delicious and flavorful gnocchi Bolognese, and a meatloaf that one customer described as the best they've ever had. The restaurant is deceptive from the street, with a small entry room and bar, but a large and intimate dining area, especially the outdoor seating. Overall, The Local remains a place worth visiting, with the potential for improvement in the consistency and quality of the food. Visitors especially enjoy the short ribs, which are so soft they fall off the bone, and the bacon wrapped meatloaf, praised for being absolutely delicious. The staff, like Ashley, are attentive and friendly, providing great service. The atmosphere makes guests feel like they're at a fun family get-together, enhancing the overall experience.
