Crozet has several coffee shops and Mudhouse is one of the best for atmosphere. It has great food options for quick bites (like the breakfast burrito) and the small stage is nice for little events that happen once in a while. It has a great small town feel and gets busy on the weekends.
Few places make me feel welcomed to bring my toddler son. I had planned to meet up with a friend at a park, but due to the rain, we chose the indoor amenities of Mudhouse. I was doubtful of how long I could keep my son quiet inside, but to my great gratitude, we found a kids toy box, and the barista Sophie, was beyond delightful, helpful, welcoming and kind. What a great coffee shop! Probably one of the best dry cappuccinos I've ever had. Super friendly and skilled barista. Tried the lemon poppy loaf too, which had great flavor. Definitely worth the drive from nearby Charlottesville. Great view of the mountains from the outdoor tables too.
