“Driving from northern VA to Greensboro, The Pod came up on a coffee search, only minutes off the main highway, in Gretna, I didn't have time to stay, but the menu looks incredible, the space is beautiful and comfortable, sparkling clean, the service was so welcoming and friendly, and my coffee and the house-made pimiento cheese is pure gold. I can't wait to go back with my family.“

“Good food and loved the hospitality of Rodney and his mom. Also enjoyed Rodney’s art and if I had an inch of wall space left would have bought a piece or two. Was so pleasantly surprised that such a small town could have such a charming restaurant. Loved my sandwich!“

Alma's Treats Cafe • $
403 Main St, Gretna

“There is not a nicer lady on the planet to sit behind a counter and take your order for the delicious custom bakery order she is going to craft for you as the owner of Alma's is. Warm, welcoming, and as sweet as the authentic southern fried apple pies she makes, we couldn't help but stop as chat for a long while with her. We are in the area visiting family and this shop JUST opened this past week, lucky for us! The cakes seem to be mostly order ahead, so we didn't get to try those, but there were lots of goodies like cookies, cupcakes, chocolate roll slices, cream puffs, mini pies, dessert breads, and fried hand pies available to purchase for $1-1.50 apiece. Very reasonable prices, everything clearly freshly baked, and something I really liked was that her little pre-packaged cookie bags and hand pies had ingredients listed on them, so if you have allergy problems it's all very clearly labeled. The interior of the shop looks meticulously renovated; its bright, very clean, and she offers you free coffee at a little coffee nook in the shop, which is such a sweet touch. The exterior is VERY unassuming in a lot with a chain link fence kind of tucked off the street in a little whitewashed brick building. Don't be thrown off by the exterior or the locale - the hand-lettered vintage style sign with a cupcake on it will point the way to a wonderful ten minute stop for dessert.“
