“Go purchase the #2 chicken kabob. It is the most incredible kabob place I’ve even been to (and I’m a picky eater). The chicken is juicy and well seasoned with a delicious flavor. The rice is soft and tasty. The chickpeas are to die for. And the naan bread is so delicious and warm it reminds me of sitting by a comfortable fireplace on a cold rainy day. They are quick with their orders and make the chicken right there infront of you so it’s always fresh. I’ve never had an experience besides exquisite here.“

“We had never tried Afghani food before, and I am so glad we did. The staff was so friendly and helpful with any questions we had. They recommended the Mini Taste of Arocostia for our first time. Everything was FANTASTIC!!! The food was cooked perfectly. The service was great! We never had to ask to have our beverages filled up, because they were already on top of it before we had to ask. They packed all our leftovers into boxes for us for our way home. We will definitely be going back!“

“Loved eating here. The restaurant smelled faintly of incense, which was a welcome ambiance. Tables are layed out well so it doesn't feel cramped. The space is nice and bright with beautiful decor. The staff were friendly and very attentive. Service was fast and the food was absolutely delicious! Loved every single thing I ordered:

Sheer chai — this tea had a nice balance of milk and sugar

Mantoo classic — these beef dumplings were full of flavor and served at the right temperature, hot but not too much to burn your mouth

Lamb shank — the sauce was packed with flavor and the meat fell off the bones. It came with rice that was a lovely buttery complement to the lamb

Sheer berenj — had this for dessert and it was very refreshing. It's not milky and the pistachios on top added a nice nutty flavor to the rice pudding

Green tea with cardamom — nice way to end dinner“

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Afghan Restaurant Authentic Cuisine & Sheeryakh, and I must say, it was an incredible experience! From the moment we walked in, the hospitality was warm and welcoming. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, providing excellent customer service with a genuine smile.

Now, let’s talk about the food—absolutely delicious! Every dish was bursting with rich, authentic Afghan flavors. “This place is beyond writing s good review. I used to be in college 22 years ago and it was the spot for everyone bc they have really good food and always generous. Recently, I took my son there after many years bc I moved away and now back in the area. My son loved it so much, this is our second visit in less than a week. The place is just as good as it used to be and they reason behind all the success in my own opinion is bc it managed by an excellent owner and his family. Really the food and the service is beyond your imagination.
As I was leaving, I spotted Moby dick across the street and I am confident to say, if you eat here, you would not eat Moby dick even if it was for free. “We were a larger party of 10 and had made reservations. Our table was ready for us when we arrived and the owner (I think) welcomed us.
Several people had been here before. There are options for everyone. I had the vegetarian sampler, which was delicious and flavorful. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The restaurant has great ambience with Afghan artwork and crafts adorning the walls.

“Hidden gem: Afghan Carrayee! It reminds me of karahi. I got the lamb. It was grilled separately, cut, and added to fried tomatoes, peppers, onions, and spices with plenty of fragrant oil. Served with a huge piece of tandoori bread to soak up all the flavorful sauce. It also comes with a cool yogurt sauce and spicy green sauce. I've also had the Quabili Palau: Skillfully-seasoned lamb under a heap of spiced brown rice, topped with carrot strips, raisins and meat sauce. The portion sizes are massive. I don't know how they got all that food in the box. I ate it for days. My son liked the chicken kabob, also came with a healthy portion of two different kinds of rice. The chickpeas and eggplant are also very good! The staff/owners are very friendly. The meat is cooked when ordered, so if you are in a hurry order ahead. If you order there and wait they might just give you a free bowl of lentil soup to eat while you wait! If you are on the go try the wraps served with fries or choose a side. They also have wraps without a side as a special for $7.50. It's not on the website or menu, but a good deal.“

“Had the buffet around 1800 hrs. Comes with a large piece of Afghan bread. Buffet veggie dishes and 2 meat dishes. Ferni and fruit for dessert. Everything was fine to me, except to get white or brown rice you need to ask a counter person. I think they expect customers to re-use their dirty styrofoam plates since I was the only one who appeared not to--which now makes me wonder whether I should return here.“

Everyone already knows how awesome Afghan food is and this is just another spot with mouth watering Afghan cuisine and bunch of other modern type of things from sandwiches and more on their menu. I imagine that one weekend the large dining room is crowded with families.“
