“One of the best kept secrets on I-81 and the Shenandoah Valley. We were told about it and on checking it out the hype we heard did not suffice. The food is outstanding, generous portions and good prices. The gentleman that waited on us was very hospitable and even explained some of the spices and cooking methods. You can’t argue with the authenticity and freshness when the food is being cooked where you can see it. Don’t be intimidated by the truck stop- this place exceeds many full service restaurants. We will be returners.”

“This location recently re-opened under new management, and it 110% improved from before. Well stocked, ingredients looked and tasted fresh, friendly and personable employees. Also, it always smelled weird in here before - no longer! I'd be happy to stay there and eat. If you tried it last year or beginning of this year and weren't satisfied, give it another shot. One of the better Subways I've been to.”

“This is a restaurant with nearby access to Highway 81 so it's very convenient. I used the drive through and we had to wait a little longer than normal but the employees were very friendly and polite. The neighborhood is very beautiful and clean.”

Fabulous large portions of fish (Pollack) and tender Liver & Onions dinners served with a friendly smile by the new 80 year old owner herself, Katherine, who said she used to work for “Kathy” before Kathy sold Katherine the business. Just connect the dots, folks, and you’ll get who’s who eventually. Don’t leave Shen Valley if you are looking for a clean place with good ole fashioned home cooking’ and friendly Southern hospitality?”

“We were staying in the area, and decided to try it out. It did not disappoint. The customer service was absolutely amazing. I wish I could remember our waitress name, but I can't. she was the best waitress any of us have had in a long time. It was July 4, and they were closing at 2, we came in at 1:22. We offered to leave, but she was so amazing about it, told us to stay so we did, and we are so glad we did. Thank you for the amazing service and amazing food! We will definitely be back if we are into the area again!”

Vegetarian options: They have a great veggie pie except the mushrooms from a jar, don't prefer that kind of mushroom”

“My wife and I cane here last night for dinner. Nice place, conveniently located, and the employees were nice. We tried their Peanut Soup, you.will to try it to find out if you love it or it may not be for you - the best way to put! Their fried chicken was cooked juicey and had amazing crispy; however, it needed flavor or some seasoning. The hamburger steak was dry and had no flavor, but their hush puppies were awesome! The fries were good! I tried the peanut butter meringue, the meringue was very sweet, but the peanut butter part was good!”

“Last time we ordered, a side was filled incorrectly. This time all the items we ordered were in the bag but I do wonder why, if we order on the app, the entrees come with 2 biscuits but ordering online gives you just 1. We had trouble signing into the app this time so we ordered online for curbside. Mom's only complaint was the hashbrowns seemed like they were scraped off the bottom of the pan, last bit in the pan and not very warm. My ribs were good as were the dumplings and turnip greens. Cracker Barrel made up for the previous missing side by sending a coupon good for an entree (unexpected). Couldn't use it on this order because the system said it didn't exist. !!! The food is good and reasonable for the portions. Servers are usually great. But there's always some annoyance if we pick up an order vs eating inside.”

We both were very impressed with the beauty of the mill, the quaintness of the dining room, the quality of the food and our waitress was a delight! We had the crab dip as an appetizer and we shared in a crab cake sandwich and a steak and cheese, all of which were out of this world! And then we fed the ducks! 🦆🦆”
