“Our family had breakfast this morning at Matt's Grill & Lodge. We eat out at many different restaurants in the valley. Our breakfast this morning was the first breakfast we have had at Matt’s and it was exceptionally good. We had the german apple pancake, the cinnamon roll french toast, regular french toast, ham and cheese omlet, eggs benedict, oatmeal, german sausage and eggs, and bacon and eggs. Each one was perfectly prepared and delicious. I highly recommend Matt’s for breakfast!“

“The wait staff were VERY friendly and attentive, keeping my coffee cup brimming. The only thing that kept the entire rating from being a solid 5 stars was the chicken fried steak. While it was good, the seasoning seemed a little off from the traditional flavor that I prefer. I say this being a lifelong aficionado of chicken fried steaks. I'd eat there again in a heartbeat, however, but likely have something else from the menu.“

“Great Dinner! Scallops and Lamb were wonderful! Service was ok. It wasn’t busy, I waited more than ten minutes with an empty plate and drink before waiter finally came back. We ordered a second drink and were sipping on those, only had been 45 minutes since we sat, and another waitress brought us our ticket without asking if we wanted anything else?!! Felt like we were being rushed out. There were still seats available downstairs and the upstairs dining was empty when we walked out. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Dinner was delicious though! Would have enjoyed another drink though. 🤷🏻‍♀️“

“Came here with my husband for the first time. The service was great. We walked in and were greeted with smiles, The serving sizes are gigantic, you definitely get a lot of food for what you're paying for and you're not really paying that much the pricing is so nice. I don't know how they came up with the fries they have but they are now my husband and I's favorite. They are like flattened steak fries. So good.

“We went to Roosters on a Monday afternoon. I ordered a mushroom burger and fries. My food was floating in grease. The bun was soggy with the amount of grease that was floating in the grease. The only thing that was nice was the view of the river. The restaurant is starting to look run down. The bathroom looked like it had not been attended to in awhile. This is sad because a couple of years ago I would have recommend this as a to go place. Prices have increased quite a bit“

“Mystic Café is one of my favorite coffee shops in Lewiston because it actually feels like an independent local place instead of another polished corporate chain.

The atmosphere is probably the biggest reason. There’s artwork everywhere, interesting decorations on the walls, multiple seating levels, and enough little details around the café that you keep noticing new things even after several visits.

One thing I’ve always enjoyed is the live music. On certain Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights they’ll have musicians or bands performing, and there’s even a piano inside the café. I’ve seen a pretty wide mix of local performers over the years, and it gives the whole place a fun creative energy that’s hard to fake.

As the author of The Grant Colson Thriller Series, I spend a lot of time writing in coffee shops while traveling, and places with actual personality always stand out more to me than perfectly polished modern cafés.

The layout is fun too because the café opens up more the farther you wander inside. Different seating areas, upper sections, little corners to sit in. It feels bigger than it first looks from outside.

The food and coffee have always been excellent, and the staff has consistently been super friendly and welcoming. Their hours have shifted around a bit over the years, so it’s worth double-checking before heading over.

Funny enough, creative coffee shops and music venues like this probably influenced parts of the atmosphere in the Paris Nights Romance Series more than I consciously realized while writing.

Definitely one of the more unique coffee shops in the LC Valley and the kind of place where it’s easy to stay longer than you planned.“

“The Applebee’s in Lewiston, Idaho is an excellent spot for a good meal. After a long day working in the office on my thriller and romance novels and taking care of business, I like to get out for a solid dinner.

The food is always well prepared. The whiskey bacon burger is one of my favorites. I’ll sometimes order a beer as well. You can tell this location is well run because the staff stays attentive and on top of things. And on the rare times something isn’t quite right, they jump on fixing it quickly. I really appreciate that.

There’s a big bar area and two separate dining zones. It’s never too loud, which makes conversation easy.

Parking is ample with plenty of space, and they also have a takeout door that works well with Uber Eats.“

“Quqiit Bar and Grill absolutely knocked it out of the park. The buffalo burger was one of the best I’ve ever had—hot, thick, and incredibly juicy, cooked perfectly and packed with flavor in every bite. You could tell it came off the grill at just the right moment.
The fries were fantastic too—crispy, fresh, and the perfect complement to the burger. The place was clean, welcoming, and had a great atmosphere. And Denae, our server, was excellent—friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was just right without ever being overbearing.

“Went to MJBs for our anniversary dinner! We were in town from Wisconsin and made sure we made it to MJBs for dinner while we were here! Always amazing food and amazing staff. Our waiter, Skylar, was so attentive and friendly. The food was on point like always. Highly recommend the house chips as an appetizer. I have been craving them for months! We also ordered the bite size, which was cooked perfectly, and the jackhammer which had amazing flavor. Definitely our favorite restaurant in the valley!“

“We were traveling and stopped to get some food before heading back on the road. We so enjoy our pancakes.
Our waitress Wendy came over with a smile and took our drink order. When she was getting our drinks I noticed a man sitting at the counter being loud and giving rude remarks. We later found out he was the manager.
Wendy came back with our drinks and was taking our order, she was very knowledgeable on the menu and gave us great recommendations. Our food came out and Wendy brought everything we needed and kept refilling our drinks without having to be asked. She was very pleasant and very attentive to us even with a rude manager. Thank you Wendy, you made very tired travelers very happy.“
