“The wait staff were VERY friendly and attentive, keeping my coffee cup brimming. The only thing that kept the entire rating from being a solid 5 stars was the chicken fried steak. While it was good, the seasoning seemed a little off from the traditional flavor that I prefer. I say this being a lifelong aficionado of chicken fried steaks. I'd eat there again in a heartbeat, however, but likely have something else from the menu.“

“Walked in fir the first time and felt like a regular. Janae (sorry if I spelled it wrong) was super welcoming and made me a bomb Huckleberry mojito. Sandwich (chop cheese) was really good and the fries were great even cold the next day as road trip snacks. Will definitely be going back next time I'm in town. Regulars were warm and fun to talk to and the whole atmosphere was great. Can definitely see why they've stayed around as long as they have. Can't wait to go back.“

“I’ve been seeing ads for this place and when I was in need of a tasty sandwich with a lot of meat and flavor I decided to give their club sandwich a try. It was SO TASTY, and everything in it was QUALITY from the bread to the bacon to the meat. The portion/size of the sandwich is nice and big too, Bircher’s truly lives up to the hype! We ordered through doordash and it was still hot when it arrived and not soggy even with double dashing.“

“Mystic Café is one of my favorite coffee shops in Lewiston because it actually feels like an independent local place instead of another polished corporate chain.

The atmosphere is probably the biggest reason. There’s artwork everywhere, interesting decorations on the walls, multiple seating levels, and enough little details around the café that you keep noticing new things even after several visits.

One thing I’ve always enjoyed is the live music. On certain Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights they’ll have musicians or bands performing, and there’s even a piano inside the café. I’ve seen a pretty wide mix of local performers over the years, and it gives the whole place a fun creative energy that’s hard to fake.

As the author of The Grant Colson Thriller Series, I spend a lot of time writing in coffee shops while traveling, and places with actual personality always stand out more to me than perfectly polished modern cafés.

The layout is fun too because the café opens up more the farther you wander inside. Different seating areas, upper sections, little corners to sit in. It feels bigger than it first looks from outside.

The food and coffee have always been excellent, and the staff has consistently been super friendly and welcoming. Their hours have shifted around a bit over the years, so it’s worth double-checking before heading over.

Funny enough, creative coffee shops and music venues like this probably influenced parts of the atmosphere in the Paris Nights Romance Series more than I consciously realized while writing.

Definitely one of the more unique coffee shops in the LC Valley and the kind of place where it’s easy to stay longer than you planned.“

“Our family had breakfast this morning at Matt's Grill & Lodge. We eat out at many different restaurants in the valley. Our breakfast this morning was the first breakfast we have had at Matt’s and it was exceptionally good. We had the german apple pancake, the cinnamon roll french toast, regular french toast, ham and cheese omlet, eggs benedict, oatmeal, german sausage and eggs, and bacon and eggs. Each one was perfectly prepared and delicious. I highly recommend Matt’s for breakfast!“

“We had Olivia as our waitress and she was training a student. She was very very unpersistent. She was right there. She made sure our coffee, our our drinks were topped and that our food was good. She kept coming by to see if there was anything we needed or anything ask us for dessert. She was very kind and courteous even helped us out to the car. My mom 91 and be sent me 71. We kind of need a little help with the walkers so she helped us. It was very good. I would recommend it if everybody wants to go there. The atmosphere is fantastic and it is kid friendly 😀“

“Quqiit Bar and Grill absolutely knocked it out of the park. The buffalo burger was one of the best I’ve ever had—hot, thick, and incredibly juicy, cooked perfectly and packed with flavor in every bite. You could tell it came off the grill at just the right moment.
The fries were fantastic too—crispy, fresh, and the perfect complement to the burger. The place was clean, welcoming, and had a great atmosphere. And Denae, our server, was excellent—friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was just right without ever being overbearing.
