“I can't believe I've lived in this area for more than a decade and never stopped into Koong Thong Thai Restaurant. What a pleasant surprise!

I'm pretty particular about Thai food, and I have one dish I order everywhere I go: Drunken Wide Noodles (Pad Kee Mao). My philosophy is simple—if a restaurant can make an outstanding plate of drunken noodles, chances are they know how to cook everything else well.

Koong Thong did not disappoint. The noodles were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Every bite had a balanced, authentic taste without being overly salty or greasy. You could tell the ingredients were fresh, and the quality really stood out.

What impressed me just as much was the value. The portions were generous, the prices were very reasonable, and the overall experience far exceeded my expectations. It has that hidden-gem, neighborhood feel—the kind of place you almost don't want to tell anyone about because it's such a great find.

If you've driven by this restaurant like I have for years without stopping, do yourself a favor and give it a try. I'm so glad I finally did, and I'll definitely be coming back to explore more of the menu.

“We lived in Laos for 7 years and love Lao food. This is by far the most authentic tasting Lao food that we have found. We especially like their nem khao, Lao style sausages, and their jeow mak lin is the only real-tasting Lao tomato salsa that I have ever found outside of Laos or my wife's kitchen. They have done amazing job with their flavors and indoor casual atmosphere (feels very modern Vientiane chic). They seem to have a hard time keeping their khao piak noodles on hand so if you really your khao piak fix, be sure to call ahead. I have now been to Sweet Rice 5 times and they have never had the khao piak noodles. If you want really good Lao food and can't get over there, you can get your fix at Sweet Rice!“

“I ordered food Appethaizing Thaih through uber eats. When the food arrived, we saw we only got our appetizers. I tried to contact the Uber driver in vain. So then I called the restaurant and was told the driver had only gotten one bag of food. The restaurant called the driver as soon as they realized he'd only picked up a portion of the order, but the driver's response was a noncommittal 'okay'. They hung up and we hoped the uber driver would return to the restaurant. I then got a call back from the restaurant. The uber driver never came back, so the owner himself drove the food out to our home. WOW. The food was also so delicious!!! Thank you, thank you! We so appreciate our local restaurants!!!“

“Everyone loves their karaage chicken...huge servings! They also have the best Tom Kha...the flavor is spot on! Pad See Ew, drunken noodles, etc are all wonderful. Portions are large & prices are reasonable. But, biggest reason I keep returning is their terrific staff...just the nicest people!“

“When I first moved to the neighborhood, this was the very first place my awesome neighbors recommended… and I’m so glad they did! The food is delicious, the service friendly and prompt, and the atmosphere is welcoming, clean, and unpretentious.
It has become the place my family looks forward to eating when they visit, and where my partner and I go when we need a little treat (or order takeout from when we need a little comfort).

My personal favorite is the Rama Noodles, because the pan-fried noodles are perfectly tender and chewy with exceptional flavor, and the peanut sauce… I mean, I would honestly lick the plate afterwards if I had only slightly less dignity!

That said, everything we’ve ordered from there has been top-tier. Highly recommend!“

“This place has been here for quite a while but I always found it to been too busy. Our favorite place closed so we decided to give Thai Bistro another try. The food is excellent and the portions are mostly good. They have a dish called Sweet Chili that we really like. The atmosphere is very nice. Tastefully decorated.“

I’ve lived in Maple Valley for 8 months and have tried other Thai places and they were terrible. I’m pleasantly surprised! We finally found a place we can get some decent Thai nearby. I will say, they are doing the atmosphere all wrong. No music, wind noise coming through the door, the place looked empty. Our server was a little old lady, I’m assuming this is a family business. But the food is good! Makes me feel bad for them. I recommend eating here, mostly for takeout. Also, their prices are really cheap. They should honestly raise them.“

“I've eaten here about 6 times and everything I've tried has been delicious. Usually I get soup - their Kao Pon is so tasty. The balance between the spiciness and the coconut milk and other flavors is amazing. Other highlights are the Pho and I usually share the Beef Sticks as an appetizer. The sauce that comes with them is so unique and spicy; they should bottle it! Comes with sticky rice. The staff are friendly and always create a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.
