El Sarape is under new ownership and the food is poor to mediocre. Its been a long time since I've had such a disappointing dining experience. The enchilada sauce came out of a can, all the food was lukewarm. The enchiladas were not baked but merely plated and sauce poured over. The crispy curls on the appetizer were soggy not crunchy. MEXTIZA is a restaurant that offers a warm and inviting atmosphere with a beautifully designed interior and a cozy bar area. The atmosphere has improved significantly since its previous name, El Sarape, creating a more elegant and vibey space. The restaurant features a thoughtfully curated menu with a range of dishes from spicy chicken street tacos with sriracha-based sauce to the fajita burrito, carne asada, and the popular chimichanga with barbacoa. The food is consistently praised for its outstanding taste, with standout items like the best ceviche, Mexican street corn, and Taco Salad. The presentations are elegant, and the portions are proper, making each dish feel special. Prices vary from under $20 for lighter dishes to $120 for a tomahawk steak, catering to a wider crowd without overwhelming with options. The service is friendly and attentive, contributing to a pleasant dining experience. Guests also appreciate the attention to detail, such as the salsa with heat and the use of cute molcajetes for toppings. Overall, MEXTIZA combines great food, a beautiful setting, and friendly service, making it a place worth returning to.
