MEKENIE FILIPINO RESTAURANT
In the large Filipino community that has come to South King County in the last 20 years you ask the question: Is there Filipino cuisine in Renton?
It seems like a tall order. But it isn't.
You just have to ask. And the answer is Mekenie's!
Opened in 2018 by Monna Lisa Perez, the restaurant is run by her daughter Jonnarae greeting you in the front of the house and son, ChaRly in kitchen making up your tasty fair.

Mekenie Pampangga's Special | Filipino Restaurant offers delicious Filipino cuisine, with standout dishes like Adobo fried rice and Kare Kare. The Kare Kare is packed with meat, veggies, and eggplant, though it lacked the traditional bagoong. The Bulalo had perfect flavor and tender meat, reminiscent of homemade Filipino cooking. The Lechon kawali, served with a unique sauce, was fatty and flavorful.
The restaurant provides a friendly, welcoming atmosphere with big screen entertainment. Customers praise the dishes as not too far off from their own home-cooked Filipino meals. The place is family-owned and family-run, where the mom/cousin cooks at the back and the daughter manages the front. Reviewers highlight the quick service and the authentic, home-style feel of the food, including dishes like Tortang talong and pork BBQ. The freshly made Buko pie by the mom was also a hit.
Despite some drawbacks like the lack of available desserts and running out of rice, the overall food quality, flavor, and presentation earned this place a solid rating. The large family portions and the friendly service contributed to the positive dining experience. Regulars and new customers alike recommend giving this restaurant a try for a taste of genuine Filipino home cooking.
