I love bringing people here for quick and easy night out in Ballard. The whiskey selection is great, as you would hope. I asked some pretty specific questions about the whiskey selection that they answered on the spot with recommendations. I feel shy to say that I’m not really into the fish and chips. The coating falls off and is sometimes burnt. Doesn’t stop me from coming back for poutine and burger.

The fish and chips, made with fried halibut, are some of the best, light and delicious, with a perfect crunchy batter that is not oily. The tartar sauce is also noted as some of the best. The Scotch egg could use a thicker sausage wrap for more depth. Guests appreciate the friendly and attentive staff, who provide great service and are helpful in guiding them through the massive selection of Scotch, one of the most stocked on the west coast. The outdoor seating is a highlight, making it enjoyable even in light rain. The decor and layout of the bar add to the cool, welcoming atmosphere, making Macleod's a true gem among bars in the metro area.
