Two of ordered the chicken sandwich.. it literally was 4 dried out pieces of chicken nugget form. Totally tasteless. I think it was $28 for the sandwich which came with coleslaw and fries. Another person ordered the bolognese and said it was good as wax the French dip. Poor service. Half the restaurant was occupied and we arrived at 8pm. The waitress came back to our table very infrequently and we waited awhile for service to even start. Wanted water refilled and almost went up...
Nick's was a delightful stop on my Madison walkabout. Service at the bar was attentive and helpful, and my shrimp cocktail tangy and fresh. Drinks were solid as well. The bar seats could maybe use a refresh though. Vibes inside were definitely neighborhood focussed - felt like Nick's is a local favorite.

The 'chocolate sundae' is arguably a misnomer. It is a small brownie baked in hot cast iron with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and nuts.
The brownie was not baked thoroughly - mushy core (albeit the edges were satisfying) and heavy on the palate. The ice cream balanced this a bit, but not enough. I was swigging a lot of water due to feeling dehydrated.
