Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar

The staff were friendly and helpful but overworked. I was seated quickly and the food arrived relatively fast. They have a small menu, mainly oysters and a few other seafood options or salad. I got the steamer of mussels and clams and French bread which was fresh and delicious. The ambiance could be improved, it looked like a casual late night sports bar vibe rather than a seafood restaurant, I was surprised the food was good from the look of the place. The prices were reasonable but a 18% service charge is included on every cheque.

Always a pleasure to have some oysters here. Great selection, comfortable spot to relax after work with food and drink, and close to the stadiums. I like the lower Queen Anne location better but this is a great option downtown.

Hostess and server had an attitude like they didn't want me to be there. Ordered a standard beer and didn't get it. Not a big deal but tip is automatically added to the check so don't expect them to care about the quality of service

I came in looking to experience great local seafood and was not disappointed. I got terrific guidance from my server in picking out oysters, geoduck, and Dungeness crab. Plus, a perfect glass of Sancerre to go with it. Everything was beautifully fresh and well prepared. Overall a really terrific experience.

I am a huge fan of Taylor Shellfish. I love the oysters so much, and order them frequently. My last few visits to the bar, however, have been less-than-stellar.

First - the service is always great. The oysters are almost always on point. And there are such great seafood options here. If you love seafood? Give it a shot.

The not-so-good. The olives were pitted and not great. I order olives everywhere. These were lazy. The pickled vegetables were sweet. That should be disclosed on the (QR) menu. Not everyone loves sweet pickles.

We got the miso clams and the sauce was over-reduced and SO salty. Usually I soak up clam sauce with bread and this was so intense - I couldn’t do it.

Fries were good, but only dipping option was tartar.

Next time I’ll order double the oysters and skip the olives and vegetables, which is a bummer because those can be such easy wins on a menu.

Looked up a place for seafood we could get to from train station and came up with this. Had the Salish Sampler. Food was amazing and the oyster choices were fresh and delicious. The star of the show however was Dawn our server. She went so above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. Provided some feedback on places to visit after dining. Can definitely recommend, and ask for Dawn.

Really good chowder. First time having geoduck chowder, would get again definitely. They add a service charge nearly entire normal tip amount or what is now the entire tip amount when done this way

This is THE place to bring your out of town friends in order to show off PNW seafood. Order the Geoduck, get the crab, a couple dozen oysters and don’t forget their excellent cocktail program.

My wife and I came in for some oysters and chowder. We were in from out of town and the staff were so friendly and helpful with navigating the menu and suggestions. The quality of the food was incredible and once again the staff was awesome!

Sure you can get oysters at the market but then you have to deal with questionable quality and all the factors of street food. At this place, we were seated, served two platters of a dozen randomly selected local oysters of varying breeds, age and flavors. If the city permit assessment posted on their window is accurate, we didn't have to worry about quality of oysters, or possibilities of getting I'll from consumption. Thus far, we are good. Service was nice, it took some time to deliver our oysters but careful prepping and shucking must be done to ensure quality. It was our first visit here and we highly recommend this place. Skip the street food and come here instead for a quick oyster sampler and drinks.
