asked the barista for recommendations, and they said they specialized in espresso. they did not lie, this is the best cortado i've ever had, perfectly balanced between the milk and espresso.

West Pullman's Ukrainian church sits far south of the Village, onion glint visible off the side streets. I arrived between liturgies; the doors were open and a caretaker let me stand in the nave under the iconostasis. It's a working parish, not a tourist stop, so I didn't linger past a few photographs of the exterior.
In my opinion this is the best coffee in the city. In any list it should merit your consideration for top 3. The beans are fantastic and perfectly roasted, and the barristas are talented and really helpful to customers.

Caffe Umbria is a cozy coffee shop with excellent espresso and coffee, a bit pricey but worth it. The staff is nice and helpful, and the space is light and bright, with a spacious outdoor seating arrangement. The ambiance is nice and not distracting, providing a welcoming atmosphere for customers to enjoy their delicious coffee and pastries. The baristas are helpful and the coffee is amazing. It is a great place to work on a laptop and enjoy a delicious Caffe al pepe or a hot latte.
