“I love coming to Pacific Southern! My wife & I have been coming here for years. Great food portions. Amazing atmosphere & service. We get the Beakfast Plate when we go... Scrambled eggs, grits w/ cheese, fried catfish, english muffin, & a side of bacon! Water & coffee to top it off! This please is my goto for breakfast. Oh, and their jambalaya will make you order a second one to go LoL....Parking: Parking behind building, 30+ parking spotsWheelchair accessibility: Parking lot is ground level & easy access to the front & back door.“
“I'm a semi regular customer here and haven't had any complaints over 10+ years until now. Put in an order online at 1:30 pm to pick up at 5:15. Arrived at 5:20 and after waiting for everyone in the lobby to get their food, was told my order would be another 10-15 minutes (now at 5:30). I understand getting behind when it's busy, and I'll still be coming back. But I guess planning ahead still doesn't help get an order on time sometimes :(“
“Came across this place on Friday evening after doom scrolling for some late night grub. The restaurant is clean and I immediately felt at home with the smell of comfort food. I was greeted first thing when I walked in the door even with a line ahead of me. Of course I had the hot catfish dinner with fries. My food was freshly prepared and hot! The portion size, and taste is on point! This place will be my regular and reliable spot when I have a taste for down home southern comfort grub.“
“Always an amazing meal. Each time, I tell myself that I am going to try something different but the sliced brisket sandwich is just so amazing. The house ranch salad dressing is 100% yum. Also, one of the best loaded potato salads anywhere around.“
“Best Chicken Place in Washington if you are a fan of good food and spicy chicken definitely visit this place. A must go to all food enthusiast, the eagles after the chicken is a perfect way to end a good meal. A great place for halal food but also go food in general. No better place in the are for chicken than Al’s“
“Finally got a chance to visit Southern Kitchen! The parking lot is pretty tiny and was full, but I was able to find parallel parking on the street outside the restaurant easily. I got the 6th Ave platter so I could try things out. I really liked the Cajun catfish fingers and I would probably skip the chicken and go straight for those or try the brisket next time. They definitely don't make things zesty/spicy, they leave that to you to put hot sauce on, which I am fine with. I loved the big quart jar of strawberry lemonade. I've never been served lemonade topped with whipped cream before and it was surprising when it arrived at the table but I tackled it with glee. It delicious. Drawbacks: the fried chicken, though not too greasy with tasty, crispy breading, was a bit dry and unseasoned tasting on the inside, the corncake arrived at the table too cold to melt butter, and they were out of fried green tomatoes. The space is a bit cramped and although it's all on one level, it might not be the best for a wheelchair user. The space does provide a cozy feeling, though. During my meal many regulars came in to pick up food and were greeted warmly by the servers who knew them by name. I definitely see why this beloved soul food restaurant is a Tacoma institution. I'm sure I will be back. So many more delicious-sounding things to try!“
