“Nuvrei hot chocolate was so delicious! Not too sweet at all which was very pleasantly surprising. The chocolate almond croissant was my favorite! The rose croissant was surprisingly delicious and definitely unique. My husband loved the bacon, egg and cheese croissant.“

“Even though I travel the world touring with "my" artists, this was my first time in Portland, Oregon. Our friends booked us a personal guide (Adam Thorn Smith, highly recommended! ) who showed us around and made Yelp even sent us a message on the day like "wow - you know how to explore all hot spots on one day". So after the Japanese and Rose gardens, we took a first bite here at Henry Higgins, which was very good. I liked the ambiance, and the lady at the checkout was nice - just as you would expect from a place you go to ;-) I prefer places with tableside service - but we loved everything we had - and yes, I would even use the word great for their bagels. I will not understand, though, why my breakfast sandwich with a toasted bagel, cheese, egg, and meat and a small bag of chips was cheaper than my wife's same bagel with cream cheese and egg salad (no chips, no cheese, no meat). I generally also have a problem when places do not offer any service but take my order and make me pick up (= "over the counter-service" only), suggesting to tip the same amount as if I were in a full-service restaurant, particularly when they had charged restaurant prices in the first place ($6 for a coffee, $11 for a regular, toasted bagel with cream cheese and egg salad). Again, we liked the place, even loved the bagels, would come back - but to rate five out of five stars, "surprises" would have to be on the positive rather than negative side.“

“From the photos, the bagels looked a little different, and I was nearby, so I had to try one. I like how it was less dense, yet had a crisp exterior. I tried the salt, and love salt, but it was almost too much salt. The salt is embedded in a way that it's not easy to wipe off. Ok, been eating in my car outside. Have to go in to get some other types to take home and share with the family to try.“

The bagels were excellent, we tried the Mediterranean and the meat bagel, and both were delicious. The cappuccino was authentic and high quality, and the staff were very helpful with recommendations.

“The negative reviews are way off base. These are some of the best bagels I’ve ever had and I’ve had them all over the country, including New York and Boston. I’ve tried bagels from other shops in Portland and I think it’s pretty fair to say you’d be hard-pressed to do better than this place.“

“I just had the perfect customer experience at Rain or Shine coffee house. I want to give them their flowers! The staff was nice and knowledgeable about the items on the menu. The coffee is 10/10. I got a raspberry, and, an animal crackers macaroon. They were both yummy! But, the animal crackers macaroon is 10/10. It tasted exactly like an animal crackers, with the perfect macaroon texture. I’m ready to go back and get another animal crackers flavored macaroon! *They have a parking lot* !!!!!! 1000/10!“

The bagels are great as an egg-&-cheddar breakfast sandwiches, everyone who works there when I've been in is a treat, and the daylight is *fantastic* because it's in a house raised off the street. This also means the front patio and outdoor side tables aren't right on the street, all the better for hanging out. “Wow! Just wow!! I mean, did I say WOW? I went there specially for pumpkin pie. What i got was not just a pumpkin pie, it was a taste of absolute joy. Joy I say! Smooth, creamy, firm, but not too firm, a rich, utterly delicious crust that was more like layers than an actual crust. Moist through and through! “My go-to bagel shop in town! The bagels are so good and made with sourdough, which gives them a slightly different texture than traditional NY bagels, but honestly, I prefer it this way. I usually order the Uncle Sal or Willamette sandwich on an everything bagel or the jalapeño cheddar (AMAZING). Super chill atmosphere, friendly staff, and always a great experience. A must-try!“
