“Our server was Iran. As soon as we walked toward the counter, he smiled warmly and greeted us. I’m kind of high maintenance, but Iran was very patient and double checked to make sure my order was correct. Our order came up very quickly, and was perfect. When we were leaving, Iran said “goodbye” and again gave us a genuine smile.“

“Really exceptional bowl of chirashi. You have to look a bit to find this on their menu but it's there...just a bit buried. That's not really a surprise as I consider chirashi to be the hidden secret on a quality sushi places' menu. No exception this time!

Everything was nice and fresh plus the assortment was great! I enjoyed being able to note the differences between 3 different varieties of tuna. I really enjoyed the pairing of the salmon roe with the snapper and found the salmon to be melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Seared albacore was really tasty as well. Best bite of the night? The big eye tuna. I generally prefer bluefin but had both side-by-side and enjoyed the big eye piece more.

Rice under the lettuce threw me a little but I guess that was the chef's attempt to segment the dish a bit. I tossed the lettuce aside and enjoyed the balance of the dish, including the assortment of vegetables as well.

Chirashi is a great way to go if you're really just interested in the fish. The tables around me were heavily laden with trays and platters full of rolls that just oozed ingredients all over. I'm a bit more of a purist and really enjoyed the chirashi but I would guess their rolls are pretty fantastic as well, if that's your thing.“

“I eat keto when possible, and Paleo Mama Bakery has amazing keto-friendly goods. They are as beautiful as baked goods from traditional bakeries, and they taste delicious! A lot of the time, I find keto-friendly frosted goods to be really heavy, but these are not as heavy as others I've tried. I've even gone out of my way to get a birthday cake from here (I live almost 150 miles away) because they are perfect for special occasions when people are eating low-carb/keto. I've attached a photo of a slice of the keto carrot cake, which was delicious!“

“This cafe has many delicious options for food. It however does not have celiac safe options. The cross contamination is too high. They do note this if you call them by stating that they can't guarantee there isn't. But I would not eat here if you have celiacs because I did twice and it made me incredibly sick. Again the food in my opinion is delicious, it just isn't celiacs safe.“

“First time Celiac visiting and oh my gosh.... best gf bakery I've had and there isn't a worry that I will get sick because it's a dedicated gf facility! Staff was super friendly and if it's your first visit, you even get a free sample of their fab chocolate. Will definitely be back!“

“For a loyal customer patronizing Glass Nickel for decades, I shouldn't be in a position to need to write this. With all the problems, - and it seems that nearly each order has come with one or more - I still came back for the great taste of Glass Nickel pizza. However, the most recent issue made me finally decide to take my business elsewhere. My pizza had (over three inches) of no toppings toward the edge. Unacceptable. It appears that the mushrooms are not chopped into bits anymore like in past orders, and that I appreciate, but it looks like the big barren spaces, sans toppings, made up for that. I asked for a refund, but was given a half credit. In addition, I had to dish out more for the tip and delivery charge. I'm finally done with them.“

“We went for lunch today and had a great meal. The food was fresh and delicious. The waiter explained everything to us and was very attentive. We were so full we had to order our dessert to go (the thousand layer- flaky dough like mille-feulle). For entrees I had the ceviche and some salty plantain. Empinadas for apps. Loved both types. “Ive been going to the Bonfyre for years and I really love the place. For the past year it has been infested with gnats or fruit flies or whatever they are. . You cant take a sip or a bite without waving them away. Its annoying as hell and gross. Its not a one time thing, I go there often and its not getting better. This afternoon I stopped in for a couple of beers and some calamari appetizer. I love their calamari! I used to, today I got a massive plate of breaded bread. And swatted flies away the entire time. I'm not giving up on Bonfyre but if they cant fix the bug problem soon I'm done. I stopped by Badger Tavern before going to Bonfyre, the parking lot was packed as was the entire street so went to Bonfyre. Bonfyre was pretty empty. The atmosphere at Bonfyre should and could be a 5 star...get rid of your bug problem!“

The staff are so friendly and seem to enjoy working there and bringing forth the good eats. This place is such a hidden gem!
Must try:

~Farmers Market Panini (essentially a fancy grilled cheese, even if you're not a vegetarian, the addition of potato on it melds perfectly with the cheeses, just chef's kiss)

~CHICAGO DOG perfectly done with sports peppers, tomato, onion salt, bright relish.. get 2 while you're at it lol. Pure perfection

~Reuben ... ANY AND ALL PANINIS.. they have an Italian Beef panini! Can't go wrong

~Chili Mac (nice lil addition as a side)

It's casual, you can dine in, feels cozy, like an old school lil diner with a couple slot machines, coin machinez...and just overall is so cozy.

(PS, GIFT IDEA for your Madisonian family member or friend, instead of a big fancy restaurant...a $100 card will go a long way here. (my father in law called up Crostinis the gift card from across the country, they even offered to swing over n hand deliver the card to us on the Northside). It's an old school handwritten gift card and they jot down amount left by hand, idk why I just love how it's old school mom n pop shop type feel)
