Restaurantji's Janesville picks for the finest Mexican cuisine.
“We had an excellent experience. Service was fast, food was tasty, seating was good, staff was efficient. Chips were very good, thicker and crispy chips, salsa was a nice mid-point between mild & medium. My chicken enchiladas were a nice balance of meat & vegetables, cooked well with tender onions & peppers. Prices were reasonable with ala cart options. Restaurant is nicely decorated.Parking: In a strip mall.“
“While traveling through the Janesville, WI area, my wife and I decided to try Hacienda before heading back to our hotel for the evening. Upon entering the restaurant, the ambiance/decor was what one would expect from an authentic Mexican restaurant. We were greeted by an employee who immediately seated us. Our server was at our table almost immediately to get our drink orders and provide menus. After ordering, our server whose name was Jesus, brought tortilla chips and salsa which were very good. We didn't have to wait long before our food was brought to us. The food was really very good - some of the best Mexican food I have ever had. After finishing our entrees, we decided to try the fried ice cream for dessert which was very good as well.Overall, the food was excellent at a very reasonable price. The ambiance/decor was very nice as well. I especially enjoyed the Mexican themed music that was playing in the background which helped set the mood. It felt as if we had driven south of the border into Mexico and were in an authentic Mexican restaurant! The service was top notch as well. Our server, Jesus, was an extremely friendly, efficient and conscientious server. He checked on things several times during our visit to ensure everything was satisfactory. The owner was on site and was very friendly as well.I would highly recommend giving Hacienda a try if you enjoy Mexican food and we will definitely be back the next time we travel through Janesville, WI. Very nice restaurant!“
“Amazing food. Everything is good.My favorite is the steak tacos ,,,, their steak is seasoned very well, to me the best around town of not WI . My friends from Rockford come here just to eat here.Great serviceFresh foodI love this place I would most deff recommend.“
“It's usually really good. Unfortunately part of my dinner was wrong and I didn't know it until I got home. I had ordered chicken chimichangas cut into one the next day for supper. It was ground beef... good but when you crave that chicken they make beef just doesn't cut it.“
“The food was great, I want to eat it every day. Each time I go I try something new. But the steak taco were the best thing on the menu in my opinion!Parking: I don’t have to spend a lot of time trying to find a parking spot. They also have free parking I don’t have to pay!“
“I've had tacos and burritos from there. It was very tasty and the meat was cooked well. I also tried the quesadilla but by the time I got home there was so much grease that I couldn't eat it.Pros: good tacosCons: they charge extra for EVERYTHING. If you like hot sauce be prepared to pay extra. One of the guys there will give you 2 hot sauces for 3 tacos. If you want lettuce and tomato, you might as well go to the grocery store and buy it yourself.“
“One of the best Mexican places thats not only cheap but good, my meals have always been hot and delicious. I once accidentally dropped a milkshake trying to get my card back in my bag and one of the workers was very sweet about it and made me a new one. 10/10“
“Last meal on the road from a 30 plus day road trip I'm not lying by saying it was one of the top 5 restaurants we visited not counting the the gulf coast restaurants. (Seafood) home cooking yup proportions yup Timely service Yup. Clean yup the price unbelievable. I'll be stopping here again if I'm in the area and starving. amen just sayin“
“As always the food is amazing. The fellow cooking the food is always happy and has the music going. Reminds me of some of the authentic places I frequented in Az before moving here. Thanks for the great food, pleasant attitudes, and reasonable prices.“
“Solid authentic Mexican seafood restaurant. This is not your standard run-of-the-mill fare either. Coming in from the twin cities on my way to my hometown of Chicago, I stopped by and was pleasantly surprised by the distinct family-style flavors here. I ordered the labgostinos dish and shrimp ceviche. Both were more than enough for me and possible another person if I had company. Solid. :)“
“We are totally blown away by this excellent food. In JANESVILLE. YES, IN JANESVILLE, WI!!!This restaurant is a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, A DON'T-MISS-GEM of a Mexican restaurant! Really, really worth our drive from Madison! I cannot rate this place highly enough! So good, so flavorful! And the owner and his family are wonderful - so nice and providing great conversation and service. You MUST try this excellent food.We tried several options - house salsa (creamy red, creamy green - YUM!) and chips, Red Pork Posole, Shrimp Taco, Rice, Refried Beans, and the amazing Mega Quesabirria. The homemade corn tortillas just add to the already incredible flavors. The food is nicely spiced, not at all salty, but you know that you are eating various fresh spices, spicy peppers, etc. I could taste all the different flavors. Some may find this to be on the spicy side, but it was perfect heat to me.My shrimp taco was overflowing with 6 or 7 *large* shrimp, topped with a chipotle creamy salsa, resting in red shredded cabbage. The tasty surprise was the browned, toasty cheese grilled onto the tortilla. What flavor! The Posole was excellent - flavorful, served with lime, shredded lettuce, radishes, and those awesome tortillas. Just beautiful! The hit was the Quesabirria. This came on a large pizza pan, with a pizza server. Two 14-inch flour tortillas, are stuffed with melted cheese and the juiciest, most tender, BEST birria that I've tried. It was grilled to a toasty, crispy, brown, and cut into wedges like a pizza - but so much better than any pizza! Biting into a piece, the juicy meat, melty cheese, crispy tortilla - heavenly! Accompanied by cilantro and chopped onion-covered Birria consomme. This is a MUST TRY.Based on the owner's recommendations, and samples of pintos charros that he gave us, we ordered his takeout Grilled Chicken and Ribs dinner for tomorrow's eating. All beautifully packed in a box (which the owner carried to our car): A whole, spatchcocked, marinated and grilled chicken; grilled, spiced, pork ribs; a quart of rice; a quart of the charro beans; jalapeños toreados; an entire grilled white onion; two baked potatoes topped with chorizo; and more of those tortilla treasures for $39.99.It is now Sunday morning, and guess what we are having for breakfast? A feast! I hear so many "yummy" noises coming from the kitchen, it's crazy!I can't wait to go back! The absolute best benefit to buying a Sam's Club membership!“
