Don't normally give reviews but felt it was nessessary. Been coming here since the 80's, this was the first time being disappointed. Food was great as usual, wait staff on the other hand, not so much.
Was looking forward to the liver dumpling soup just to find out they didn't or no longer have it.
Good fun! Polka music is outstanding!
It's a blast seeing everyone having so much fun! Great servers and beer tenders, out door patio is great, great traditional German foods and Wisconsin favorites!

Essen Haus Restaurant and Bar in Madison offers a fun and authentic German beer hall experience. Enjoy good food, great beer, and live music in a loud atmosphere. It is a classic restaurant and performance hall where you can hear live polka. Enjoy a great hefe weizen on the patio during the summer. The lovely schnitzel, knackwurst, Meterwurst plate, and Combo platter are fantastic. A good beer, pretzels, and jaeger schnitzel make for a perfect meal. The staff and service are great, friendly, and timely. The overall experience is definitely worth a visit with a bigger group.
