“My family and I love going there on Fridays for the fish fry. It is the best fish in the area! Sometimes service is a bit slow but worth it. They just have a lot of people coming to eat and don’t take reservations (except for large parties). My only complaint was we went the other day and we showed up right around 4:45 pm, hoping to beat the rush. We unfortunately were told there were no tables, just a few high tops since they had a party coming in. We were told it would be awhile before we got a table. We have a 23 month old that needs to sit in a high chair and a 5 year old that isn’t the safest on high stools. They didn’t have any elevated high chairs so we had to hold our youngest while eating. (I guess we could have left but like I said we love the fish). It just made me feel like kids weren’t as welcomed.“
“Great place. Food is solid and decently priced. The one thing I don't appreciate is the constant changing of the menu. They used to have the best cheese curds in the Madison area, and then they changed suppliers, and now they are honestly pretty bad. Beside that great food, especially for a golf course.“

“One name, Gary. Gary was the gentleman that took my order and the counter along with about 5 other customers during my duration of waiting for my food. Gary was the nicest person I have ever encountered while ordering food. Gary went above and beyond with each customer including myself to make each transaction personable. It was a Thursday evening and fairly busy inside and out. Gary greeted each customer with a friendly face and would take it upon himself to take something off someone’s shirt or something they were wearing to start up a conversation. One particular customer was an elderly woman and her middle age son who was mentally challenged. She approached the counter alone but Gary asked for her son to come up too and to not be afraid that he wouldn’t hurt him. Carried on a conversation with him and his mother asking his name and just being in the moment with him while they placed their order that evening. You don’t see people like Gary often enough anymore in the world and it really touched my heart on how he interacted with every person that came to his register as of each person was special in their own way. I’m not one to come inside and order and wait for my food or to take time to do surveys, but this interaction is one I will not forget. We need more people like Gary. I tried doing this on the Survey but it limited me on Characters I could use. Hope this doesn’t fall on deaf ears. Thank you“

“We - two did not know the area and wanted food that was not franchise food. We happened to be there Friday for fish fry and having in the past tried many many fish fries in Wisconsin this one was wonderful. We LOVED IT!“

“We live in Northern Wisconsin and ate here on a trip to visit family. The food was outstanding, the waitress Jacyln (not sure of spelling, sorry!) was very attentive and took care of us in a timely friendly fashion. The atmosphere is casual, which we like because we don't dress up much! We are so happy we found this place and will be sure to return next time we are in the area. OUTSTANDING SERVICE AND FOOD.“

“I want to start this review saying that I sure hope the manager that's Not Steven doesn't treat the employees like he treated us. We were headed to our hotel when other hockey team members called and said they were headed to Nitty-gritty to eat. We had seen the ads at the hockey rink and turned around and were the first ones there. I walked in and Not Steven asked how many. I explained I thought about 20-25 from our team were coming. He told us that he could not accommodate all of us in one area, that he had several teams coming in that had set reservations. He told us we should have made reservations months ago and made us feel like a complete inconvenience. I had never been to Sun Prairie and wouldn't have any idea of that. We waited for our friends and eventually Steven moved us together, after Not Steven seemed to go out of his way to spread us across the whole building. I'm so glad that we did not just leave due to the way we were treated by Not Steven. Our server was Joe I believe. He was attentive and polite and did a wonderful job. Honestly all the other staff seemed happy to be there and seemed to enjoy working there. The food was fast, tasted wonderful, and was very well put together. We ordered a few different things. The nachos had great ground meat that wasn't greasy gross. The flatbread was well made. Everything else was great also. The price for the plate size was good also. It's a shame that my first and lasting impression is of how inconvenient we were to Not Steven. I do want to note that, while we were there, I never saw any part of any of the other teams there. There did seem to be a small gathering of adults at one time but no other teams. I truly hope the manager doesn't treat his amazing team the way he treated new customers. Also, Steven was wonderful and was very welcoming.“
