“My family and I love going there on Fridays for the fish fry. It is the best fish in the area! Sometimes service is a bit slow but worth it. They just have a lot of people coming to eat and don’t take reservations (except for large parties). My only complaint was we went the other day and we showed up right around 4:45 pm, hoping to beat the rush. We unfortunately were told there were no tables, just a few high tops since they had a party coming in. We were told it would be awhile before we got a table. We have a 23 month old that needs to sit in a high chair and a 5 year old that isn’t the safest on high stools. They didn’t have any elevated high chairs so we had to hold our youngest while eating. (I guess we could have left but like I said we love the fish). It just made me feel like kids weren’t as welcomed.“

“One name, Gary. Gary was the gentleman that took my order and the counter along with about 5 other customers during my duration of waiting for my food. Gary was the nicest person I have ever encountered while ordering food. Gary went above and beyond with each customer including myself to make each transaction personable. It was a Thursday evening and fairly busy inside and out. Gary greeted each customer with a friendly face and would take it upon himself to take something off someone’s shirt or something they were wearing to start up a conversation. One particular customer was an elderly woman and her middle age son who was mentally challenged. She approached the counter alone but Gary asked for her son to come up too and to not be afraid that he wouldn’t hurt him. Carried on a conversation with him and his mother asking his name and just being in the moment with him while they placed their order that evening. You don’t see people like Gary often enough anymore in the world and it really touched my heart on how he interacted with every person that came to his register as of each person was special in their own way. I’m not one to come inside and order and wait for my food or to take time to do surveys, but this interaction is one I will not forget. We need more people like Gary. I tried doing this on the Survey but it limited me on Characters I could use. Hope this doesn’t fall on deaf ears. Thank you“
“Great place. Food is solid and decently priced. The one thing I don't appreciate is the constant changing of the menu. They used to have the best cheese curds in the Madison area, and then they changed suppliers, and now they are honestly pretty bad. Beside that great food, especially for a golf course.“

“when busy just relax, they can only deal with what they are able to remember - how many things can you deal with at once. show respect always anywhere. they do a great job and are very good people. I would definetly recommend coming to four food/ drinks ect.“

“I wasn't expecting to go here... But my girl told me that they had the best chicken wings... And I've had some great chicken wings before.... But I have to agree. They're pretty damn good... The staff was amazing and the atmosphere was different but pleasant“

“We live in Northern Wisconsin and ate here on a trip to visit family. The food was outstanding, the waitress Jacyln (not sure of spelling, sorry!) was very attentive and took care of us in a timely friendly fashion. The atmosphere is casual, which we like because we don't dress up much! We are so happy we found this place and will be sure to return next time we are in the area. OUTSTANDING SERVICE AND FOOD.“

“I'll be honest, it wasn't a perfect experience, but our bartender recognized there was an issue and brought it to her manager without us even saying anything. The manager apologized and reconciled the issue without hesitation. And when the food came, it was great! I look forward to giving it another chance!“

“Best place to celebrate birthdays. Excellent burgers. I’ve been going to the Gritty for almost a decade now and always leave happy. Recently I had a cc processing issue and mgmt. resolved the problem and went above and beyond to rectify the situation even though it wasn’t their fault. I’ll be back soon! Thanks again!!“

“Growing up in the area, I’m ashamed to say that I have neglected this country classic supper club for the majority of my life. In the last two years, we’ve made a point to enjoy the fantastic fish fry at least once every other month. Each time the cocktails, food and service are excellent! I love that they have diet squirt for my Old Fashioneds. I can use my calories on the salad bar and enjoy the soft rolls and delicious cheese spread. I get the haddock with sweet potato. So nice to have my favorite potato option. My sweetheart gets the perch and has also had the walleye. Both are done just right with generous portions. The very best part of this is the service. Always friendly and prompt. I love watching a FAMILY work well together. Dad is the culinary artist, Mom is smoothly running the bar, the daughter is one heck of a waitress and the son will work wherever needed. Better yet, they have been running this place for over FOUR DECADES while they have “day jobs”. Seriously, the work ethic and camaraderie makes this a favorite place to unwind. I love the feel of it and if I were independently wealthy, I would be there every Friday and Saturday night. I hear they have a very nice Sunday breakfast as well. Truly this is the definition of a “hidden gem”. Thank you to the family for all they do.“
