I get to Mercer a few times a year, and when visiting this quaint little town a trip to Heart of the North is a must. The food is amazing! The Seafood Bake, Prime Rib and Lobster and Mac & Cheese are phenomenal. Our service has always been great, drinks are wonderful and we love the entertainment! Heart of the North is a real gem!
A look of a bar on the outside but the food was amazing. Certainly wasn't a wisconsin tavern on the inside- at least on a Saturday night. Prime rib was perfectly cooked. Great drinks. Tables off the bar are a unique setup but seem to work great.
Had reservations on a Saturday evening. Food was outstanding: Happy Hour prime rib for$25! and amazing menu of fish, seafood and much more. Service was great! Stopped in half an hour early to have a pre-dinner drink at the bar, only to be told there is no bar to sit at. If you have reservations, which I would HIGHLY recommend on a Saturday, especially in summer, don't go early to have a pre-dinner cocktail (thankfully our reservations were for 30 minutes after they opened so...read full review

The Seafood Bake, featuring a combination of Shrimp, Scallops, Lobster, and a nice fish filet, is also a hit, along with Lobster and Mac & Cheese. The extensive menu includes Cajun shrimp appetizer, mussels, seafood stuffed portobello, veal parmigiana, filet Oscar, pasta carbonara, and loaded ny strip. The restaurant is known for its excellent service, friendly staff, fair prices, and a cozy, local atmosphere with live entertainment. Reservations are suggested, especially on weekends, as the restaurant can get quite busy, even turning away customers due to limited space. Overall, the Heart of the North is a great spot for a satisfying and memorable meal.
