Beautiful restaurant right on the greens. Exceptional dinner for the whole family.
Five stars for the restaurant at Whistling Straits, where the whiskey bar appears to have been assembled by people who looked at the concept of “enough” and decided it was a coward’s word. There is not much this place is lacking in the whiskey department. Whistling Straits Restaurant is known for its delicious food and beautiful views of the golf course and lake. The staff, including servers like Ellie, are attentive, warm, and knowledgeable, providing excellent service. Standout menu items include the Potato Leek Soup, Iceberg Wedge Salad, Friday Clam Chowder, Fish and Chips, VESA's salad, scallops, beef tenderloin, and crème brûlée. The outdoor dining patio offers a superb view and a relaxing atmosphere, perfect for enjoying meals like pretzel bites, which are served hot and crispy. The menu also features light and refreshing options such as the citrus shrimp salad, along with other favorites like mac n cheese, caprese sandwich, and veggie burger. Visitors praise the beautiful grounds along Lake Michigan and the good course views, which resemble scenes from a movie. The food is often described as impeccable and homemade, with some noting that the fish and chips are especially delicious, featuring light, fluffy haddock and crispy batter. The restaurant's setting is sophisticated, making it a great place for a special meal. While service experiences can vary—some guests mention a less cheerful waitress or minor mistakes like incorrect soups—the overall atmosphere remains charming. Reservations are recommended due to its popularity and the drive needed to reach it. Many visitors appreciate the friendly staff and the chance to enjoy beautiful surroundings while dining.
