“I’ve worked here over 3 years. I love this bar, I love the customers, my bosses are great. We have live music or karaoke every single weekend. Our kitchen is open until 9 PM Sunday through Thursday and 10 PM Friday and Saturday. The fryers are on until 2 AM seven days a week. Friday and Saturday we offer giant slices of homemade pizza for $5 slice until they’re gone. We are fully handicap accessible, two ramps for indoor and back deck access. We have a large selection of canned and bottled beers, huge selection of hard liquor, seltzer, iced teas, etc.. We have RC products on the gun, but also offer Coke and Pepsi products in the can. We can pretty much customize any menu item within reason. Our kitchen staff is incredible. I tell people we are a bar with restaurant quality food. We do have a large dining room that is kid friendly. Definitely bring your appetite, our portions are large, but absolutely delicious.”

It isn’t flashy, it isn’t loud, and it doesn’t pretend to be anything other than what it is: a place that consistently serves excellent food at fair prices. In the Lakes region—where Italian options can feel uneven—this spot rises confidently to the top. On my most recent visit, I was seated immediately at a corner table, a small but meaningful luxury in an age of hour-long waits. The dining room, typically hushed enough for actual conversation, again delivered one of its underrated pleasures: a peaceful meal without the intrusive din that plagues so many suburban restaurants. Service followed suit—friendly, attentive, and genuinely eager to help, never hovering or rushing. The kitchen remains the star. My spaghetti with vodka sauce was outstanding—rich, balanced, and among the best renditions I’ve had anywhere in the region. Other entrées at the table echoed the same strengths: sauces with clarity and depth, pastas cooked with confident restraint, portions generous without tipping into excess. Cocktails, too, arrived promptly and properly mixed, further reinforcing the sense of a kitchen-and-bar team that takes pride in their craft. If there is a shortfall, it lies in the ambiance. The room carries a certain charm, but the décor feels a step behind the quality of the food. A refresh of tables, finishes, and overall presentation would elevate the experience from very good to genuinely special. The warmth is there—the aesthetics simply haven’t caught up yet. Even so, the value proposition is undeniable. For reliably excellent Italian cuisine, low noise, easy seating, earnest service, and honest pricing, this restaurant more than earns its “highly recommended” status. It is, in every meaningful way, Lake Villa’s little culinary treasure.”

“I met a group of friends here for breakfast and was very pleased with the food and service. This is a small family owned businesses that is celebrating thier 45th anniversary. Let that sink in ... This family has been serving the community for 45 years. Felisha was our server. She was kind and friendly, provided excellent service, miraculously she remembered everyone's name at our table, lol, and even had a few good jokes up her sleeve. Thank you for the great service, Felisha! My compliments to the chef for cooking my poached eggs perfectly just the way I ordered them. And the hash potatoes were honestly some of the best I've had. 5 STARS across the board.”

“First visit back in 40 years and still has the same atmosphere as back then. Diverse menu options, lunch specials, friendly service, good food. Glad we decided to revisit after a long absence. one caution: CASH ONLY. That was a surprise when we went to pay as there was no mention of it anywhere ..not on the menu, not by the cashier. Lucky I had enough cash to cover the bill as often it’s credit card only for this patron.”

“We were here this weekend & ordered our usual breakfast sandwiches & I had Chai Tea. Today, I ordered the most delicious Mushroom Brie soup (I know, who wants soup in the summer, but so good!!) I also ordered the Turkey Club & could only eat 1/2 of a 1/2. It was the best Club sandwich & on sourdough bread!! PS my birthday was Saturday & my grandkids got me the wonderful homemade Blueberry pie, the only thing I ask for every year!!! Thank you to Bodi’s for being the best place around!!!💕🥧🍰🍩🥪”

“Highly recommend! Wow. What an experience at The Vegas Cafe in Antioch, Illinois. The food and drinks were excellent. We had the stuffed French toast, a skillet, pancakes, strawberry waffles, and a breakfast wrap. For drinks, we ordered hot chocolate and iced tea and everything was delicious. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff is truly amazing. From the hostesses to our server to the bussers, everyone was hardworking, kind, and genuinely caring. You could feel it right when you walked in. They wanted you there and treated you so well. Then there is the owner, Helen. She is an absolute gem. She introduced herself and spent time talking with us about her family, the business, and getting to know us. Even before she mentioned she was the owner, you could tell by the way she carried herself and interacted with guests. She clearly cares about her staff and her customers. When Helen found out we were there celebrating my mother’s birthday, she went above and beyond. My mom is still talking about it. We are so thankful to our server Callie, the owner Helen, and everyone at The Vegas Cafe. Thank you all for such a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back.”

“I came here with a large group of friends and family members for the first time for a memorial to a nephew who used to frequent the pub and passed away. I live in the Northside of Chicago, it was a pretty long drive. The pub was clean, well kept, the bathrooms were clean, the people were friendly and the service was prompt and great. I wont say ill come back again because I live too far, but I liked the place. I have no issues.”

“This review is for their catering. They catered our NYE dinner. It was insane. I had low expectations, because I’ve had fine but not amazing meals when doing an in home chef. But they crushed it. The food was fantastic, especially the ahi nachos and the short ribs. And the service and interaction were impeccable. It was truly an exceptional experience. They even hand mixed cocktails. I would and will hire them over and over again for similar experiences.”
