“My wife and I attended the Brewers game on April 1st. We used the shuttle at Jackson's Blue Ribbon Pub to get to the ballpark. Before we rode to the game we enjoyed an order of cheese curds and a Bloody Mary. Both the cheese curds and the drinks were delicious. The shuttle drips you off and picks you up just outside the Home Plate entrance. What a great way to get to and from the game. We will definitely do this again. Thanks to everyone at Jackson's for their hospitality and service.“

The food choices were great and the meal was outstanding. Management and staff treated us like members of their own families. They even allowed us to bring specialty desserts, for which they provided plates, utensils and carry-out containers. It was very reasonably priced. Prime rib sandwich is pillow soft, so flavorful and satisfying. Great garlic and herb butter seasoning on everything. I had a nasty respiratory infection a couple months prior, hadn't been able to taste much of anything for over two months... until coming here. The meal provided a satisfying experience, with a few small areas that could be improved, but overall, a good choice if you're craving a pleasant fish fry. Options for the Fish Fry: Friday Fish Fry – $12.95 for 3 pieces of cod (fried, baked, or blackened), served with coleslaw, buttered marble rye, lemon, tartar sauce, and a choice of fries, potato pancakes (2), or Soup of the Day. Additional cod is $2.95, and tartar sauce is $0.50. Apple sauce or maple syrup available by request. Shrimp Fry – $13.95 for 8 crispy butterflied shrimp, coleslaw, buttered marble rye, lemon, cocktail sauce, and a choice of fries, potato pancakes (2), or Soup of the Day. Additional shrimp is $4.95, and cocktail sauce is $0.50. Apple sauce or maple syrup available by request. The texture wasn’t as creamy as I’d prefer, and the potatoes were a bit mushy, but the flavor itself was satisfying enough. It was a nice way to start the meal Fish Fry: The fried cod was pleasant. It was thinly battered and not greasy. The fries were the standard kind you’d expect—nothing fancy, but good. Honestly, I’d go for the potato pancakes next time, as I think they’d complement the fish better than fries. The coleslaw was fresh and creamy, providing a nice contrast to the crispy fish. Shrimp Fry: The Shrimp Fry ($13.95) caught my eye as well, and from the looks of it, it was a solid choice for shrimp lovers. It comes with 8 crispy butterflied shrimp, which are golden and perfectly fried—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The shrimp are served with cocktail sauce for dipping, and the same sides as the fish fry (coleslaw, buttered marble rye, fries or pancakes). I didn’t try the shrimp this time, but the plate looked well-balanced and a great alternative to the fish. Overall Value: The total for my meal came to $25.21 including tip, which included the cup of clam chowder, the fish fry, and a coke. I felt the price was fair for the portion sizes and the quality of the food. Plus, the service was friendly and attentive, making the experience enjoyable. Final Thoughts: Overall, Dale Z’s On Tour offers a solid fish fry with good value and friendly service. While the chowder wasn’t my favorite and the fries were standard, the fish was pleasant, and the shrimp fry is a great option if you’re in the mood for another seafood option. If you're in the Milwaukee area and looking for a reliable fish fry, Dale Z’s is definitely worth a stop. I will make sure to try the potato pancakes next time!“

“Spanky’s Hideaway

I’ve driven by Spanky’s Hideaway countless times — it’s tucked away among neighborhood homes off County Line Road — but I finally stopped in for dinner today, and wow. I was genuinely blown away.

The barbecue wings were outstanding. These are real wings straight off the grill — no frying — and they were absolutely phenomenal. But what truly stole the show was the French onion soup. I’ve had French onion soup four or five times a year for the past three decades, and without question, this was the best I’ve ever had. Hands down.

It’s worth coming here for the soup alone. The cheese is so generous and perfectly melted that you literally need scissors to cut through it (see the photo — and even that doesn’t do it justice).

I also have to call out our waitress, Ashli. She was fantastic — clearly working incredibly hard, serving what felt like half the restaurant, yet still delivering warm, attentive, and thoughtful service on a very busy night. That kind of effort doesn’t go unnoticed.

Spanky’s is a fun, small, unpretentious spot with incredible food — a true hidden gem in Mequon. Highly recommend.“

Grilled wings
Ooh, these were perfectly grilled. Very tasty sauce (hot honey garlic, at Thomas’ recommendation) that wasn’t overdone or underdone - just the right amount. I usually get my wings naked because so many places go wrong with the amount of sauce (usually just too drenched), but since we were on a timeline tonight, we just ordered without asking for anything else. So glad we did! By the way, not fried wings, so not super crunchy on the outside but still crispy and not at all soggy. And super moist, perfect temp inside.

Tap Guinness
Perfectly poured with just the right amount of cream on top. Hany is usually an IPA man, and went Guinness this time and did not regret it!

Overall, this place is a little bit further away than the new hopping bars on the Deer District. I wanted to try the new places, so kept on trying them while hubby wanted to keep coming back here… and I’m glad we did this time. Sometimes new is good, but they’ve got it right here - I don’t have to keep searching!
