“We ate here before the Chris Young show in the middle of that dang snowstorm. It was our first time! From the minute we walked in and were greeted by the host staff and welcomed by our server at the bar, we already felt like we were being treated like royalty. You feel so welcomed, immediately. After a cocktail, our hostess came and found us for our reservation and we were seated at a cute window seat, overlooking the Christmas lights. Our server, Alex, was OUTSTANDING. I cannot stress enough how much we enjoyed his company and his conversation. We were, again, treated like royalty. 1 billion out of 10 for all of the front of house staff...especially Alex. At this point, if the food was terrible I wouldn't have even cared. But. It. Wasn't. Calamari 10/10 (light batter and melts in your mouth), my Ceasar Salad 10/10 (the dressing was light and flavorful and I almost asked for a bowl of the croutons) I ordered a NY Strip medium rare, baked potato, mushrooms 10/10 (cooked and seasoned to perfection, at this point Ive eaten so much food I think I'm going to die, but I couldn't stop), my friend had the Queens Cut Prime Rib, baked potato, and asparagus 10/10 (again, cooked to perfection, super flavorful, and the asparagus was huge and delicious). Alex asks if we want dessert and I said I literally can't breathe. ...He came back with a chocolate mousse anyways...how he knew my weakness, I'll never know. So, go for the food and the staff. These folks are doing it so right. We can't wait to go back!!!!“

“Excellent service, excellent food. Some of our group had prime rib ( some of the best I have ever had anywhere), some had steak, some had fish. All said food was top notch. Had cheese curds and spinach dip appetizer. Wonderful. Strong drinks…nice change, and a best ever grasshopper. I wish we lived closer. We would come often! Happened in when having our family Christmas weekend. Wonderful place. Worked with our celiac guest without issue. Highly recommend!!“

“Did the wine pairing dinner last night. Who would think to put seafood with bean soup? It was absolutely phenomenal as was the cheese souffle and the pork with baked squash. Every bite was a true culinary experience and the pricing is insane. $39 for a 3 course meal and 3 wines. Mike is a true master chef and the House of Embers is a true gem in the Dells. Reading through some other opinions of a low rating just simply does not align with the experience we had last night, and have had multiple times over the last couple years. I really believe if the dinner last night were offered in the big city it would command a price tag of $300 per person and be impossible to get reservations for. We are blessed to have this place. And if the tourists don't like it thats fine by me actually.“

“This is now one of our favorite restaurants when in the dells. Love the atmosphere live music and of course the food is superb and large portions, you won’t leave hungry! Can’t wait to try the pizza next time.“

“We come to Jose’s every time I’m up here in Baraboo. Sometimes more than once in a weekend. The manager Maria is the best. She always makes sure to say hello and make sure your food is good. Andrea is also on the top of our list of favorite waitresses. We go to their trucks to eat and the Jose’s in hochunk is the best. Highly recommend.“
