About Gumbo Stop Cafe

Gumbo Stop Cafe offers authentic Cajun cuisine that impresses both regulars and first-time visitors. Their menu features flavorful dishes like the pork po' boy with gumbo, beer battered shrimp po' boy with jambalaya, shrimp etouffee, and red skin potato salad. The catfish etouffee is a highlight, and daily deals make dining affordable. The atmosphere gives a cozy, family restaurant vibe, and the service is friendly and welcoming. Although the space is limited, with only a few tables and a bar, the heavenly food and warm service make it a must-visit. Vegetarian options include red skin potato salad and red beans and rice. Many customers say the gumbo tastes just like the flavors from the Gulf Coast, with good roux, thyme, and bay leaves, bringing back fond memories. Visitors often enjoy the sampler dish, which includes étouffée, jambalaya, gumbo, and red beans, describing it as out of this world. Reviewers appreciate the New Orleans vibe and note that the food had all the expected flavors of Mardi Gras. The service is described as excellent, with meals coming out very quickly. The jambalaya and muffuletta sandwich have received praise, making it a great spot for Cajun food in West Virginia.

My Lady Friend read comments about this cafe and we made a special trip to try their food. Steve the owner made us welcome, and after checking the menu, I had the shrimp Po-Boy, friend had half a shrimp Po-Boy and a cup of Gumbo. I have been many times to New Orleans and the food here is every bit as good as N.O.— I took a cup of Gumbo home too. Delicious !!

Stopped in today for the first time on Facebook recommendation, lady friend and I met Steve and talked at length about his food and where he gets his ingredients. She tried half a shrimp Po-Boy and a bowl of Gumbo. I opted for a whole Po-Boy sandwich. Finally got her to let me sample the Gumbo, she doesn’t share well when she fines a good thing, and after a spoon full I ordered a take out bowl of the delicious Gunbo for later at home. I have eaten in New Orleans many times on...read full review

Amazing food! I had the oyster poboy and gumbo with potato salad. Suggestion from a Louisiana native, get the gumbo with a side of potato salad and dip potato salad in your gumbo. Staff were amazing and very pleased to hear they get a lot of their ingredients from Louisiana. I’ll definitely be going back.
