“They definitely cook like they care about the foodies of Portland! Grab that Holy Smokes Burger, but make sure you’re in for the night, so satisfying and filling put my husband to sleep! The fries are seasoned with authority(.) I was trying to order online but my card kept declining, super weird. So I called and homegirl was super patient, took my order and ran my card (it worked). Wonderful food and staff will always have me locked in every time! Also if you are on the fence about treating yourself to something sweet, get off the fence and get the cookie! You won’t regret it!“

“What a gem! We don't eat vegan exclusively but have egg and dairy allergies so getting burgers with cheese and ranch and shakes was awesome! The buddy stix (mozzarella) were not bad but the Paddy's Melt and Newport Nightmare were both great and the Smashed to pieces shake was so good we came back another time just for more shakes! This place is located inside Swan Dive and did not have a sign outside (as they moved recently to the kitchen inside).“

“Came on a Saturday to have brunch with a couple friends. They weren't busy when we arrived (11a.m.), but packed by the time we were leaving.I had the Eggs Benedict. It was delicious, but the braised pork was over seasoned to me, still edible and tasty if you add a bite to the delicious little roasted potatoes. We all shared a side of Yuca fries, and pecan crusted/candied bacon. Both delicious, and the sauce provided for the fries was amazing. The service was also fantastic! Our server was very friendly and attentive.I would reccomend checking this place out. I will be back.“

“Oh my WOW!EVERYTHING on the menu is soo flavorful.Visited 3 days in a row, trying something different.Of course, I had them make to order, don't feel pickles or ketchup belong on true Gyros but they accommodated my special requests, to leave this off.Beef cheese burger, excellent comes with fries.Beef tacos, lil spendy for one, but again, the food is fresh and very flavorful!Baklava, outstanding, little pricey but worth it.(See pics)Ahzeez (sp) and Carmelita, exceptional hosts. Friendly and accommodating.Lived in the neighborhood for 60+ years, when it was Paul's Foodlane. This place has really upgraded.I know they'll get busier with the new park, but please don't change, stay true, not trendy.Love this place.“

“We don’t eat out much and very rarely do we venture downtown to get a bite. But my daughter had a late birthday dinner here a few days ago with a friend. They enjoyed the food and had a great experience. So she suggested we come back to get burgers as a family, as part of celebrating my youngest child’s 9th Birthday! He was down, so we were down, which brought us downtown to great service, yummy food and full tummies @ Iron Strike Smash Burgers! We ordered meals: 1 Pastrami Thor (added jalapeño & garlic), 2 Strikes, 1 Texas Strike, North Western( added jalapeño), all single patty. They all got garlic parmesan french fries which were better than my house seasoned fries which were good. But I will definitely be ordering garlic parmesan fries next time. ?Sorry no pics of the food because, I thought about taking pictures after everyone had finished eating. But trust me you won’t be disappointed!“

“Staff is friendly, helpful, menu is enticing, well priced, and most of all the food is delicious! Meals are plated with care and look as good as they taste. Special bonus: best Bloody Mary I've ever had. Our party of four included 2 vegans and two omnivores. Loved everything on the table.“

“As someone with social anxiety this is the best. Order at the front, food brought to the table, and then nobody bothers you after that and you bus your own plates. Super cool old converted house, the window bench was cozy and warm, the burger with aged cheddar had just the right bite and some crunchy char on the cheese.“
“True speakeasy! Hidden below a store front, stairs take you down into a sleek, sophisticated and welcoming cocktail cave. Mocktails are FANTASTIC!! Well crafted, and not just "juice" minus the alcohol. Most mixers, and all the food is made in house. Owner and his mom are behind the menu. House made truffle chips are a must, perfect pairing with any beverage. Interested seating areas, creative use of space.“

“I’m not sure if Jane is the owner but was very nice. There are two tablets to order on and it was super nice to have a sink to wash your hands not within the bathroom. The pricing was a little expensive but the food was delicious. I enjoyed a single hamburger, fries and even the chicken strips. The flavors really hit the spot! Ava loved the chocolate shake and she was even given quite a few unicorn stickers which made her day.“

“No photo can reflect how amazing this Smash Burger truly is. Fresh ingredients, made to perfection. I’ve come to this cart over a dozen times since it has opened, and quality has stayed consistent every time. The $15 order comes with fries, which is a great deal for the amount of food you get. Best smash burger in Portland by far!!This cart is located at Heist, which has a bar and various other food carts if you want to mix and match!“

“John’s has such an insane selection. Such a big selection that it can sometimes be overwhelming… but the kind staff and renovated layout of the store has made it much easier to find something that appeals to me and anyone I bring in here. If you’re in the neighborhood, this is where you should be getting your drinks.“

“Not bad. It is definitely just a BBQ chicken joint where you can pick if you want bbq sauce or not. I came here thinking it was like Mexican or Peruvian rotisserie chicken but it's got the BBQ feel vs rotisserie. Idk how to explain ! The food is good, the service was nice too. I wanted to try it just to see how it was but it's my fault for expecting a different cook style.“

“The only things wrong with this place cannot be helped. The location is absolutely packed. There is little to no parking, the food is amazing so there was nowhere to sit when we ordered our food. We came around 4 on a Sunday.Amazing food. I had something with bacon, I think jam or jelly was running out the bottom. It was decadent. I was too overwhelmed by the goodness to pay attention to what my daughter and her mother had but they knew what they wanted without checking the menu.Excellent hot little strip of shops and food options nearby. Probably better to get a lift into this area and stay awhile.“

“Really really good burger! The garlic fries are super good- we ordered them and then asked for them to be well done and they were so crispy and delicious. They have a lemonade with whatever featured berries and that was also good. They don’t have a large menu so more like a place that does something and does it well. I look forward to trying their chicken and fish sandwiches.“

“BEST BURGER IN PORTLANDI’ve been coming to Roake’s with my dad since I was a kid and can be certain that this is THE BEST thing patty burger in the city. Their burgers have the perfect flavor and texture to them. Add in the scrumptious coney sauce and you’ve got magic in your mouth. The Roakeburger is my go to, but I leave off the swamp melons and onions. I’ve also been known to get a coney dog or a chili burger on occasion. Their fries are hit and miss IMO, but I come for the burgers anyway.Sketchballs flock to this place and I may visit their other location soon to see if it’s free of drug users, homeless, and gambling addicts. The lottery room Roake’s has doesn’t help.“
“Great venue! Sold out show and it was so fun! No drama...just pure fun! I have a broken foot so I got there early to secure a seat in balcony... Nice they have this option...wishing I could've been down on the floor with their biggest fans! Such energy and FUN! Perfect size to see a concert...loved it!!“

“This is a smash burger establishment, and it did not disappoint. I ordered a cheeseburger. The chopped onions were a bit overpowering, but their Classic French fries more than balanced the scales. Request their special sauce with the fries. You absolutely will not want to consume them any other way. Lastly, the service was exemplary, and the atmosphere was nostalgic reminiscent of the walk-up and order at the window restaurants I patronized in my youth.“

“This is a great place for some real Mexican street food. The last time we grabbed food to go, we got the birria (beef and goat), which are both delicious, and the pozole is also amazing. In addition to the soups, the menu offers a wide variety of tacos, burritos, nachos, and plates (the mole is wonderful). Sahuayo Taqueria is located in the J&Ts Market, so it is more of a "to-go" option than a sit-down type of experience. In the summer, there is outdoor seating.“

“Pleasantly surprised. I got dragged here by my vegan friend against my will. Had the ghost pepper burger and it was good. Tried his burger (idk the name but it was the biggest one on the menu) and that was really good. Loved the flavor. Did it taste exactly like beef? No. But it was close and at no point did I think, “this ain’t a real burger.” I’d totally eat it again.“

“I ordered takeout online and it was easy to navigate the process. I ordered a pack your bowl, french fries, and a plant-based milkshake. The bowl is super delicious and customizable. It’s also a large quantity of food that fed me for two separate meals. The fries are average quality. I was super disappointed with the plant-based milkshake. I ordered marionberry and for some reason there was salt in it, it tasted so salty! And it was, as if there was no ice cream at all. It didn’t even have the consistency of a milkshake. It was like cold, thin liquid with some marionberries. They totally skimped on or completely omitted the ice cream. And not worth the price I paid for this milkshake. Customer service was friendly and decent. The atmosphere is casual. Indoor and sidewalk outdoor seating.Vegetarian options: If you are vegetarian or vegan, they have some good options here for burgers, sandwiches, salads, bowls, sides, and dessert. I feel like overall this restaurant is a good balance of omnivore, vegetarian, and vegan. Something for everyone!Dietary restrictions: I am gluten-free and dairy free and there are plenty of options here. The gluten-free bun is pretty decent, but I usually opt for burgers and sandwiches on a bed of lettuce or the pack your bowl. They have dairy free ice cream option for milkshakes and some dairy free cheese, sauces, and dressings. If you are plant-based, they have a really good Tempeh hereParking: If you have a DMV disability placard, they have one designated spot in the small parking lot behind the building. It would be really challenging for a van or larger vehicle to get in and out of“

“6/5 stars, beyond my expectations. My wife and I drove 50 minutes to try this new food truck in Portland after reading the OregonLive article about them. The food was phenomenal and have us craving for more. We ordered the Smash burger and fries, it was perfect in every way. The bun tasted homemade and super fresh, the patty was cooked perfectly and super flavorful, the homemade pickles were better than any pickles we’ve had from any restaurant, and the monster sauce was the best sauces I’ve had for a “special sauce” mixture (which I normally despise). The fries are cooked to perfection (my wife said she has never had a better fry in her life) and the garlic aioli was delicious. There was no big line, our food was served super quick and was super fresh. This food cart should be picking up business really quick so come get one of Portland’s best smash burgers while you can before the lines start forming.“

“I've been eating at the Paradox Cafe for many years. My two favorite dishes are the vegetable scramble which makes me feel that I'm gifting my body, and the solstice corn cakes which are gluten free and have apples and walnuts mixed in. “Love Killer Burger! No matter what location the food is always very good and the burgers are definitely a delight when we're there! Their service is also top notch and we'd definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a juicy burger! It's usually pretty loud when you're sitting there so if you're hoping for a quiet place to dine Killer Burger is not the place to go as the ambiance is little loud! But, that's what you can expect while you're eating there! All in all, we'd still recommend them!“

“I once read a fine book about "bar bars." I don't remember all the criteria, but I think Beulahland comes close without quite attaining bar-bar status. It's definitely a bar, though -- something getting strangely rare in Portland, where many of the old bars either turn upscale or close. (Although with Holman's reopening, we now have at least two bars in the 28th and Burnside area, very cool.) The food menu looks quite basic, making it clear you come here for the drinks, not the food. (I have not eaten there, maybe the hot dogs or quesadillas are fabulous, I don't know.) It seems a little too big, airy and well lit, and the clientele a little too young, to be a bar bar. But during a pandemic (yes, it's still going on, folks), the airiness is quite a virtue, even if it reduces the classic bar atmosphere. There is ample sidewalk seating, covered but not heated, and very popular even during cold weather (just have another drink). There are big open windows, with seating on both sides of the window and the windowsill serving as a table, so some of your party can be inside and some out if you wish! The outdoor seating is quite lively, and gets livelier as the night goes on -- boisterous discussion, sometimes dancing happens. Check it out.“

“We came here accidentally due to Apple Maps telling us it was way closer than it actually was, but what great place. We park and on the way to the door they are pumping the delicious smell of the grill right over you. The staff was polite and funny. Even the music was late nineties alternative which being 43 is perfect! We ordered a single, a double, chili cheese curly fries, deluxe curly fries (cheese, sauce, onions, and bacon), a kids burger, and a chocolate shake. Every item, no, every bite was stellar. My seven year old son said it was the best burger he ever had. 5/5 highly recommend. Honestly couldn’t have been better.“
