Definition of hidden gem. My boyfriend and I were both craving for banh cuon. We're from out of the city so upon looking up places to eat banh cuon, this was the first restaurant that popped up. It's a very small space, we came right at opening so we were able to grab a table. (Most people coming in had preordered for take out). I had a craving for banh cuon which I ate growing up in Vancouver. This was the only restaurant in edmonton so far where I've found it. Banh cuon is a Vietnamese steamed rice roll with ground pork and minced wood ear fungus inside. It comes with fried shallots and a sweet vinegar sauce containing fish sauce (nuoc mum).
