Chicken Restaurants in Alexander City

“Me and my buddy Jacob decided to stop at Zaxby’s because we were starving and needed “something quick.” What we got instead was a life-changing spiritual chicken experience.

We walked in acting normal, but the second those doors opened and the smell of fried chicken and Zax Sauce hit us, Jacob froze mid-step like a hunting dog catching a scent. He just looked at me and whispered, “Do you smell that?” like we had discovered buried treasure.

The employee behind the counter greeted us with so much energy that Jacob immediately straightened his posture and ordered more politely than I’ve ever heard in my life. I’m pretty sure he almost said “please and thank you, ma’am” after every item.

We ordered enough food to concern a small family and sat down waiting for it. Somehow the food came out so fast that Jacob accused them of having our meal prepared before we even arrived. Conspiracy theories started immediately.

Then came the first bite.

I looked over at Jacob after trying a chicken tender and the man had completely zoned out. No blinking. No talking. Just staring at the wall chewing slowly like he was witnessing his life flash before his eyes. Finally he put the tender down and said, “I get it now.”

The Texas toast was buttery perfection. The fries were seasoned by what had to be a wizard. The chicken was so crispy we could hear each other chewing over the music in the restaurant.

At one point Jacob dipped a fry into Zax Sauce, leaned back in his chair, and said, “This is what the founding fathers wanted.” I almost choked laughing.

Then somehow it got even better. An employee walked by and asked if we needed anything else, and Jacob — a grown man who normally communicates through grunts — said, “Honestly, you guys are doing incredible work here.”

By the end of the meal we were both sitting there silently surrounded by empty baskets like two exhausted athletes after a championship game. Jacob loosened his belt, looked at me dead serious, and said, “If I die today, tell people I was happy.”

We walked out completely different people. We came in hungry. We left emotionally connected to a chicken restaurant. Honestly, if Zaxby’s ever starts offering wedding packages, Jacob might book one for vow renewals.“

“We were in Alex City from northern AL and dined in at the KFC. I ordered a 2-piece/2-side meal: 2 original chicken pieces and 2 coleslaws for my sides. I received 1 coleslaw and 1 mashed potato. When I informed the cashier, she gave me the 2nd coleslaw. This was the BEST KFC food I have ever eaten. There are a lot of poor reviews for this KFC location stating that the food was stale. If the store can better manage their production schedule and stop serving stale food, this would be a 10-star KFC!“
