“If you’re looking for bare bones. Great Chinese food this is the spot. I have the teriyaki chicken skewers on top of pork fried rice. Wonderful. I eat at restaurants all around the country. Always looking for great Chinese spots. This is definitely on the list.

“Lunch has a buffet. Dinner is takeout only. It takes about 15 minutes to make an order and walk out the door. You can order and pay online. Food is not kept under warming lights, so pick up on time or food may get cold. I love their chicken fried rice. The Triple Delight is also good. I do not recommend the Japanese Teriyaki Chicken. It's nothing like the Japanese restaurant. It's very "Chinese-style", in a sauce with green pepper and onion, and tastes only like green pepper.“

“I will never order from this place due to the lack of customer service skills these people have. I have ordered here multiple times with white rice missing from my order. When I call up to inform them that my rice is missing, I am always told to bring my food back up to store and “we will give you white rice”. Well there is a problem with that when I live 30 minutes away, my entire order is going to be cold at that point. They refuse to replace the entire order and do it correctly so all the food will be hot. It seems like this place is ok with screw ups and not doing the right thing. Every order that I place is a minimum of $60. If you are ok with losing a customer, I am ok not ordering from here.“

“My husband and I love Golden City! We started going 3 years ago, and it has consistently been our favorite place in the area. We love their sushi rolls, sweet and sour chicken, and hibachi. My favorite is the egg drop soup. Not only is the food fantastic, but we always love the incredible service that Golden City provides.“

“Fresh food always on the buffet, not a huge selection but if you are looking for something, just ask. As far as the regular menu, there are so many options that you can find anything you want, Japanese food, Chinese, burgers (good ones!), and far more. Well worth a visit, and don't be put off by the age of the shell, clean and welcoming. Run by a husband and wife team.“

“Just moved here, & I'm so thankful I found this hidden gem! I looked up over 20 places, & I didn't see what I wanted on the menu I'm so thankful I called in and asked if they have Tofu & they did! I made my own Tofu with broccoli, & fried rice with only egg/onion. They have the best prices affordable prices in Hoover! This will be my only to go spot for Chinese food. It's well worth the drive in a very beautiful neighborhood to the plaza. One of my favorite things is the crispy noodles 🤤 they make there's fresh next time I'm getting 10 bags because one wasn't enough. I will be getting food here weekly very generous with the portions almost enough for 3 meals. I highly recommend everyone try this spot, & if you don't see something on there menu just call & ask. “I judge my Chinese restaurants by their crab Rangoon, and Mr Chen’s has the best I’ve ever had by far. Their eggplant with garlic sauce was also great and the chicken with broccoli was scrumptious. The service was superb in the atmosphere was very appealing.“
