“Listen, if you’re ever in Birmingham and don’t pull up to Cayo Coco Rum Bar, you’re seriously missing out. I was in town for work and decided to skip the typical corporate gala scene for something more my speed—a solo dinner with good food and good vibes. Let me tell you, Cayo Coco is it. This place? It’s a whole experience.

From the moment I walked in, the ambiance struck the perfect balance between laid-back charm and polished sophistication. The vibe was warm, authentic, and buzzing just enough to feel alive without being overwhelming. The thoughtfully curated menu was a feast for the senses—every dish more enticing than the last. Collectively, my meal here ranks as one of the best things I’ve ever eaten, showcasing a level of care and creativity that made each bite unforgettable.

And then, there was Ashley, my amazing waitress. If I lived in Birmingham, I’d absolutely be friends with her. She was personable, warm, and fully engaged, turning what could have been just another solo meal into a vibrant and memorable evening. We swapped stories of travel, shared favorite bands, and geeked out over her top menu picks (she was spot on, by the way). Her service was the epitome of southern hospitality and truly elevated the experience.

Cayo Coco is legendary in my book. It’s not just a restaurant; it’s a place that etches core memories. “Went to 2 different locations before visiting Prive/Palace. You get entry to the restaurant for free and the club in back for $10. Security will check you before entering and parking spaces were nice.

The bartender was very nice and the people eating were also very nice. We ate wings, fries, catfish nuggets and had some drinks in between visits to the back club“

“This place is a gem, it's not the cheapest restaurant in town but is one of the best value for money . They take pride in serving local organic food and will happily tweak dishes to suit your taste, allergies etc. We started with the quiche and a "bit of salad" which included mango, pomegranate, beetroot, peppers, avacado to name but a few. The result was amazing. My main course was strips of tuna served on asparagus with green beans and potatoes topped with a poached egg. I have stopped eating tuna in UK restaurants after some bad meals but this reminded me how good it can be. Being greedy we finished off with the famous chocolate brownie. Looking forward to the next meal there!“

“We visited this renovated food hall on our way out of Birmingham. The space itself is really cool and features some great food options. I had the poke and a bubble tea, which were both delicious. “This was one of my father's favorite bars in Bessemer. He is now deceased but I will never forget the last day that I seen him alive. He was at Alabama Al's drinking as usual and I went by then he came out to see all the grandkids it was getting close to Christmas time and he was asking them all what they wanted for Christmas. He was also grabbing at his chest and trying to turn away from me so I didn't see but I did and I asked him daddy what's wrong he said nothing just got the heart burn.I could tell it was more &begged him 2go 2Dr.but he hated going 2the Hospital or Dr.He was hard headed-Yep that's where I get it from.. my dad really enjoyed going in to this bar and talkin I'm cutting out with his friends our so-called friends that went in there this was one of the mini bars in Bessemer that he enjoyed hanging out at. Since then they have redone the place and made it a lot better they serve alcohol beverages as well as beer,they have karaoke,pool tournaments,It's a nice place 2watch Football Games.Theres usually the same group of people there,the don't serve food IS the down side.Most the bartenders there are very friendly&keep the place under control.If you're in Bessemer stop by&see 4yourself.“

“I was amazed with the great hospitality guys provided to me. Among that, the food was fantastic!!!I asked the burger of the month, the server said it is a bit spicy, and brought spicy sauce from the kitchen to try the spiciness, and I ate it with fries.Burger was great - juicy and well prepared, not spicy at all, recommended medium rare, french fries was well seasoned and salted, done great too.The manager and servers were very carrying, asking for preferences and how everything was, giving good recommendations and knowing their menu. Felt great haha!The dessert I took to the room, the chocolate cheesecake, was wonderful as well!!!“

“This is where I take visitors from out of town. This is where I encourage people to try it out for a special meal. LOVE this place. EVERYTHING is good. Bacon bomb app? Yes, please. Shrimp and grits? The BEST this side of Savannah (better here, really). From salads to kebabs, everything on the menu is good. The service is friendly. And the prices are very, very reasonable. I’ve never had a disappointing meal from the Front Porch.“

“This is kind of like a higher scale mall food court. There are several really good counter service restaurants here with a good variety of food and plenty of seating. There is a parking deck next to it that doesn't charge if you are there for less than two hours (lunch break).“

“My daughter was super hungry and getting cranky because she was tired. We decided to run in Otey's Tavern to grab something. I wasn't sure what to expect, I didn't search reviews before going like I usually do. Not only was the club salad HUGE, it was SO GOOD. The bacon was nice and crispy, the lettuce, tomato 🥰 and cucumber were fresh and the turkey/ham were shredded which I love!!! She had her heart set on fruit for her side. When we found out they didn't have it right now (which isn't their fault, it's a seasonal thing) she had big feelings that the whole restaurant heard. Brian, a bartender who has just gotten off work and was eating before leaving heard Audrey crying. GUYS. HE WENT TO ANOTHER RESTAURANT AND GOT HER SOME FRUIT. IT WAS SO SO SWEET!!!!! I had no clue he was doing it but he let our waitress know and brought it to the table. It was so kind. Such a sweet thing to do. I just had to let everyone know about how great the food AND people were there!!! The waitress (I'm so sorry I didn't ask her name) was also super sweet and accommodating!! 🥰 Go eat there and don't forget to tip!!!“

The sunset view was gorgeous, the servers (specifically Pickles, I sadly didn’t get anyone else’s names but they were all great) were precious and so nice, the pizza was delicious, the drinks, the hospitality… I could go on and on! We really enjoyed the decor of metal lunch boxes, variety of overhead music and wing mural photo op. When our food arrived, I was surprised at how huge my buffalo chicken salad was! Everything was delicious and I had to get a to go box for the remainder of my food. All of the staff were super friendly. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely eat here.“

Bartenders were nice but the drinks are very small. I don’t like having to pay average prices for a tiny cup. The music & sound system was excellent! Security had great presence throughout. It’s a hidden gem, but be ready to wait on a weekend. Absolutely worth the wait and you can have a cocktail at their bar or walk to one near. Small plates are key here unless you want Ramen. You have to try their tuna tataki, scallops, pork gyoza, and beef short rib. Either way, you can’t go wrong with anything here!“
