“We did not know what to expect but we were very pleasantly surprised the food was great, the price was great and the wait staff was extremely helpful and polite, we will definitely eat here again, and would recommend, the only suggestion I will say is that coffee would be a nice addition to the menu.“

“We were in town for my mother in laws memorial service and my husband found this gem on google. I highly suggest this place to visit. We plan on riding our bikes down one day when we aren’t working to visit again. Service was top notch and the food is amazing. I suggest setting at the community table as we did to meet new folks. We set down by a gentleman and didn’t find out til he was gone that he was actually the owner of the establishment. “Urban Cookhouse has a simple easy to order menu. It was packed last time I had lunch. Turnover is pretty fast so finding a seat is not difficult. Outdoor patio will be more conducive as fall comes and the heat reduces. Great staff - very helpful. Healthy menu!

Parking: There are spaces all around the building so don't worry if you cannot find a parking space right in front of the doors. You may have to walk 40 yards at the most.

Kid-friendliness: Menu kids will eat from with healthy choices.

“The food was modestly priced, which I appreciated, but the skin on the plantation sausage was really hard. Also, the place had a faint smell of mildew.

The waiter was great and super friendly. We were thankful that there was a place open so early! I teach school, so it's hard for me and my fiance to find somewhere to sit down and eat in the morning before work. I will be going back.“

“For a dining hall, it is way above average. Additionally, unlike Fresh Foods, it is open for dinnertime as well as on the weekends. The food is great but I will admit that this place has tough competition. Location can also be a hassle for those who do not live and/or go to classes nearby. Other than that, great.“

“I never write reviews, but the service and server was horrible. To forgetting things we asked for when taking our orders, to getting rude when asking for the things we asked for when we ordered our food. Brought our checks out , and then said she had to add gratuity, even tho one of my friends had already paid her ticket. She voided it out, and gave her the new ticket. Charged me gratuity on the 2 To-Go orders I had on my ticket. Thank goodness the manger split the Check up. The server was literally talking over my friend that was with us that was explaining the problems we were experiencing, and the manager finally told her to leave the conversation. We love the Gardendale location, we always go there with my daughter's whole ball team, and never once were we charged gratuity, and the service and food have always been excellent. The manager said, it was from corporate is the reason for mandatory gratuity for people 6 and over. Totally not true!!! Would NOT recommend the Tuscaloosa Mugshots!!!“

“This was my first time at Ttown cafe and I am very blown away!! The food was amazing and very fresh. I love good southern food and being away from home for school, this gets my soul food craving in. Will the owner was so polite and inviting and checked on us several times. Charity our serving was very bubbly and sweet! So say the least this might just be my new favorite spot in town.“

When I walked in, it was VERY busy, the cook properly wearing a "Rock Star Cook" shirt. He looked really young, but DANG!!! He was slinging with the best of them! There was a crew of 4 and they were hopping the whole time! Either actively serving, cleaning, or organizing. Even for the couple of minutes when they weren't, they were looking for something to do! Oh, and the food was done to perfection. It only seems like you can't screw up breakfast until you've had floppy bacon, crispy eggs, and white or charred hashbrowns. And a heckuva LOT cheaper than fast food!
Do yourself a solid and try this place out. Or...go someplace and pay $20 plus tip...or go to fast food and pay $35 for the same amount of food.“

“My FAVVVV go-to BAR in Tuscaloosa on Game Day!! Thank God we got there before they started charging cover because it was $40 per person when playing Texas ? Which is absolutely absurd. We couldn't even go upstairs for free after eating downstairs and getting there early.. But whatever. Still my favorite bar. They have the best fries and can't go wrong with traditional chicken fingers! Will always visit when in T-Town! And we also had the cutest bartender, Sarah? I think lol ?“
